The supposition turned out to be correct because later Trek just said it was so. (And somehow in Star Trek '09 it was a known fact beforehand.)

This is kinda like when Kirk made a guess about having to de-cloak to fire in STIII, and then Trek went on to act like that was just the rule always and forever.

Curious as to when the timeline actually split? Has anyone in the "Prime" timeline ever referenced the attack on the Kelvin?

The Kelvin lives in the Prime universe. George Kirk still served on it and he never died on it. But also wasn't physically on the ship when Kirk was born since the brothers Kirk were born in Iowa.

I still chose to believe that Kelvin is an entirely separate universe and not a branched timeline. A comic I forget which one sort of did the same and gave the Prime Kelvin a TOS makeover. Still needs that stupid 0 removing as I like to headcanon that as being just a quirk of that universe

It really is a semantic difference where Trek is concerned. I treat what we currently have as four different timelines/universes/parallel universes. I was just wondering how anyone in the "Prime" timeline could have any knowledge of Romulan practices since TOS made clear that the Romulans had been quiet for a long, long time.

yeah James tells La'an that he and Sam were born in Riverside, Iowa. EDF Kirk was born on the USS Iowa.

What I was talking about was there any interaction between the "Prime" Kelvin and the Nerada? Like at the end of "Yesterday's Enterprise" where there is something there that they identified that didn't come through.

I'd say no. Captain Robau likely never saw that ship nor the black hole in the original timeline and that assignment we see end so tragically in the altered history probably concluded uneventfully.

Scans or whatever complete. On to the next mission.

If one follows the notion it's a split timeline and that Kirk was born on the exact same day as his Prime counterpart then the split must occur before then or raises the question of why George Kirk loaded his about to pop wife onto the ship, or if they waited until the very last minute in Prime to return to Earth and raise their family.

The attack pushed Winona into premature labor, so he wasn't born the same day as Kirk Prime. I don't think it's ever been implied anywhere that the days of birth are identical.
