And so what if they do? It's an in-universe comic, that we have no context for other than it was written by an unknown individual, decades after the Burn happened and it inspired B'Avi to join the War College.
Comics aren't canon even in universe
In fact I thought the characters in the panels were Easter eggs of, say, Sulu and McCoy.
Getting a little depressed by all the new articles saying SFA failed to make the Nielsen Top 10, and how it's not a good sign for the show's future....
On the other hand, I am noticing somewhat of a come around on social media, with many people urging the 'haters' to give the show a chance 'cause it's getting better every week..! Hope many will follow that advice, 'cause I think SFA deserves a lot more than two seasons..!

Yeah, that’s what I’m expecting as well. The show would have had to be a massive, unexpected success for them to give the green light for a third season. I feel like it certainly found an audience (although probably not really the one they were hoping for) and, as annoying as it is, some of the negative culture war online discourse might even have helped in getting more eyeballs on the show. But my impression is that the new bosses at Paramount are dead set on wiping the slate clean and start fresh with their own stuff. And the way it’s going for the show it seems like they will just say it didn’t bring in the numbers they were hoping for an discontinue it after season two.
I realize all of this is based on assumptions and best guesses, though. And let me just say I would be very happy to be wrong and see them announce a third season after all. I’m just not holding my breath for that is all.

I'm not surprised. The show was designed almost to have a niche audience. Frankly I went in thinking it would be just as bad as Discovery and Section 31. It's nice that it ended up being better than that but still I can see why it wouldn't get good ratings. Most older people aren't going to like it. Same with young men, especially in this day and age when they lean very conservative. It ignores lots of stuff Trek fans love about Trek like a military structure and no Starship Enterprise exploring space.
I do feel like a Academy show would be more popular if it had been spun off of something more popular than Discovery. I mean the Gen V show which is sort of doing the same thing was spun off a more popular show in The Boys. When the Stargate franchise tried to woo a younger audience with Stargate Universe it was following both SG-1 and Atlantis. Even "Lower Decks" which is aimed at young people is basically a love letter to TNG.
In theory I do wonder how popular a Starfleet Academy show would have been if they had went with that old idea that was out their were Picard would be in charge of the Academy. Yet most of the focus would be on young people and also the setting would be post Berman era but still close enough to have enough Berman era cameos and call backs. Even the theme of rebuilding the Federation could be maintained. Instead of doing it post Burn it would be post Dominion War.
I just looked. The Neilson week adds up all the viewing minutes from 7 days, and the Academy episode was only out mid-week.
I wouldn't worry too much, it consistently makes the top 10 lists where it's streamed, though less-so than SNW did.
It's a solid hit, but not an overwhelming one.
Not sure Neilson ratings are seen as important these days. TO be honest it can be complicated as to what criteria they use. I think online engagement is one thing they look at. I feel like the only thing trending about the show comes from the anti-woke content creators. I was thinking about this in relation to a recent hit in It:Welcome to Derry.Sort of going for the same audience but it got lots of positive buzz.

Sadly I don't think they could have managed to get Patrick Stewart to sign on for that.
Janeway might have been dooable though.
This is certainly the direction they seem to be suggesting and I've made a sort of peace with it as well as the fact that I don't really have the energy to invest in a whole new continuity as well as the potential idealogical incompatabilities that the new management's incarnation might bring.
But there are still 3.5 seasons of content in our future so until at least the end of 2027 there's no reason to mourn yet.
Eh, at most it will be another Star Trek 2009.
Because history has shown the viewer base for Star Trek is Star Trek fans.

i wonder if there will be more star trek tv shows sequels after or during starfleet academy
They recently changed how Neilson ratings are shown on Neilson's site, now instead of singular episodes they track by total minutes watched for entire series.
Meaning the 3 episodes of Starfleet Academy were up against the total watch time of 40+ episode series.
