Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

If the creators of a show want to give a performer a chance to appear on another Trek production before it's too late, they can have the actor reprise a particular role of theirs:

1) Create a new show with that character having some reason to be a significant part of it
2) Give the character a guest spot on an episode of a show that isn't partially about them
3) Reunite the cast of the old show for a new show/film about that crew

Or, alternately, they can 4) create a brand new role for a familiar main Trek actor. Infinity Soong the 47th or whatever.

Which is preferable?

I look at "Coming Of Age" and the requirements to get into the Academy as more there was only one slot open for someone on that planet to go to the Academy, and it being so extremely competitive there (and not many people at Relva to begin with) that it only appears the overall requirements are so insanely high, not that this was normal across the board.

My assumption (and I've pretty sure I've seen before) is that the Relva induction were for some sort of accelerated program, possibly a fast-track Command School one that graduates you as a Lieutenant who can be immediately assigned as a Bridge Shift Duty Officer on a starship or OIC/pilot of a smaller vessel like a runabout.
