I do not understand the bellyaching over the Gorn. After complaints about ENT’s Gorn, and knowing that the TOS Gorn is a bit dated. And short of updating the TOS Gorn with animatronics (think Shran’s movable antennae), that appearance is not coming back in live action.
The problem is nothing about the "new" Gorn really works.

Their "reproduction" is more at home on a bioweapon then anything that could have naturally evolved to the point of sentience.

Their intelligence flips between "completely instinct driven predator" and "intelligent space-faring race" depending on what the writers want them to do at any point in time.

And the less said about the magic solar flares the better.

"Topping streaming charts" is just an empty buzzword.
It's like being the fastest Honda Civic in an F1 race.
Yeah, it's very vague. I've been interested since the Discovery days on how well these shows are doing, but it seems like they're weirdly cagey about giving out specifics.

I assume both Discovery and SNW, at least, perform fairly well, but I'd love to get the specifics. Obviously the most interesting thing would be how they compare with the older Star Trek series but it'd be fascinating to see if, say, SNW outperforms Discovery or vice versa.

Quite right. Somehow this version of the gorn need humanoid for food and to store their young? Also they somehow developed advanced tech better than starfleet? How are they doing all this like constantly having fi find food sources and incubators for the their eggs. Badly written. Give me the slow moving Gorn any day.

I have to say that I’m curious as to how they reproduced on their home planet before achieving space travel and using aliens as hosts. Was there some other race on their planet that they laid eggs inside of?

SNW Gorn look different, but then the ENT Gorn looks more like a velociraptor than does the TOS Gorn. All three incarnations have different looking eyes as well. Two have reptillian irises and pupils but one has the bipedal humanoid body and the other a sleeker reptile body with a tail.

Much like Klingons having three distinct looks across 50 years of the franchise and even the Romulans having three (smooth forehead, ridged and the bumpy Nero/2009 movie-style) the Gorn have at least three. Hell, even the Andorians have several different looks and one was seen just twice in Season 3 of TNG.

Wake me up when they change the look of the humans.

Given that on Earth species use what the Gorn do for reproduction I fail to see the issue.

What is a parasitoid?
A parasitoid is an organism that has young that develop on or within another organism (the host), eventually killing it. Parasitoids have characteristics of both predators and parasites.
In general, parasitoids share the following features:
  • Parasitoids are usually smaller than their selected host.
  • Parasitoids are very selective and only attack a particular life stage of one or several closely related species.
  • Adult parasitoids are generally either nectar feeders or predators.
  • Only female parasitoids are involved in finding and using the host.
  • Generally the host does not die until the young are fully grown and ready to become adults.
  • Parasitoids can sometimes prevent larval hosts (e.g. caterpillars) from developing, until the parasitoid is fully developed.
Which invertebrates are parasitoids?
Parasitoids include species of wasps, flies (e.g. tachinid flies), beetles and worms (e.g. gordian worms).
What do parasitoids target?
Parasitoids target other invertebrates, although a few (e.g. a species of rove beetle) are known to infect snake eggs . Parasitoids usually target certain groups, for example spider wasps infect spiders and cuckoo wasps infect other wasps. Some even specialise in targeting hosts that are already infected.
How do parasitoids infect their hosts?
Parasitoids infect their hosts using one of the following three methods:
  1. Eggs are laid in, on or near host eggs and young.
  2. Eggs are laid on plant species visited by the host.
  3. Eggs are laid in, on or near adult hosts, which have been stung and paralysed.
Parasitoid larvae hatch and grow by feeding on the bodily fluids or the internal organs of the host (usually the non-vital parts first). The host dies when the fluid has been sucked dry or its internal organs cease to function.

Seems like a very science fiction trope to borrow and idea from humans and their boring planet to create new species.

I lied i watched both of them and all I could think was....THIS IS WHAT WE WAITED TWO FULL YEARS FOR??? 😂 I truly think Trek needs like a real break. Not 4 years like we got between ST:ENT and the 2009 film but like 10 years. Yeah I will be closer to death but I just don't care anymore. Not saying I haven't liked any of the TV stuff from 2017 till now. But it took 3 and a half seasons till I really liked episodes of Disco and sadly SNW has just gotten worse for me as it has gone on. I liked much of season 1. Season 2 was just filled with too many gimmicky episodes and then of course all the weird retconning and fan wanking. I know there are a lot of you who love it and that's cool. But I'm just tired of it all already. There is not much they can do at this point to keep me interested. I shall just be content with TOS through Voyager and Picard. Everything else I will view like a fan production. Some good stuff but most of it just not my thing. Good Day Sirs and Goodbye forever... 😢
This isn't a starbase- there's no need to announce your departure.

Don't Tellerites have different makeup designs as well across the entire franchise.

Same with the Orions

Same with the Catians.

The only two speces that have been fairly consistent are:
1) Humans
2) Vulcans

Everybody else seems to get more variations in design.
