Then what episode is the one that looks like Black Mirror? Is that the murder mystery?
Yeah, Space Adventure Hour appears to be the murder mystery episode based off the image captions.
I'm guessing they'll try a couple different programs on the holodeck before settling on the murder mystery.
It's not "supposed" to be anything.
No one's successfully upstaged Anson Mount yet. Dude's too cool.
But what if they give Kirk a haircut that surpasses Mount? Hair bigger and even more fancy?
If you know anything about Kirk and the actors playing him, bigger hair is not outside the realm of possibility. 
I think Pike’s hair in the Vulcan episode was designed to look like Mount Seleya.

I think that might be reversed. I think the murder mystery stuff might actually be it's own episode and is the "Through a Lens of Time" episode and the space explorer episode might be the "A Space Adventure Hour." Though I wonder if they are connected somehow since they are both back to back. Maybe the crew stumbles onto a holodeck or maybe Trelane is behind it all. What is interesting is the next episode is "The Sehlat Who Ate It's Tail" so that is 3 episodes in a role that fill like fictional stories the crew might be experiencing on a holodeck or Trelane messing with them.

'The Sahlet Who Ate It's Tale' is the episode where they're using Telephones for some reason, and Kirk is also there on a damaged Farragut bridge.
'Through a Lens of Time' appears to be in that big building that breaks up in the trailer.
I assume we will be bouncing through a couple of programs and land on the murder mystery for the bulk of the episode.
I just hope there's no Holodeck Malfunction <--- Leave that tired trope in the TNG era.
If the retro sci-fi scenario some of the characters are seen being part of in the earlier trailer ends up being another holodeck rec room simulation then that’s even closer to the concept of what “Captain Proton” was on Voyager than we originally assumed. Looking forward what they are doing with it, though. 
Really liking that new trailer, by the way. Looks like it will be another brilliant season of episodes. Can already tell that I very likely won’t be a fan of “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans”. That gag with Patton Oswalt at the end doesn’t land at all for me and I’m kinda baffled why they added that to the trailer.

I wasn't super happy with Spock acting like a teenager when he was made human, but I got over it. Y'know, you can sort of justify it with a few excuses.
But to have the crew not only "acting Vulcan" but to suddenly be sporting brand new elaborate hairstyles out of nowhere...it's more like the scene in Gremlins 2 when the Brain Gremlin magically has glasses on when he turns smart.
I'm pretty sure I'll get over this too when I watch the full ep, but I can complain about it until then.

Given how the Prime crew materialize in the Mirror Universe in the Mirror crew's uniforms and vice versa and with no explanation I just categorize the Vulcan hairstyles appearing out of the blue in the same slot as "stuff that makes no logical sense even by Trek standards but is done to get the story rolling and make things as quick and convenient as possible to cut down on explanations."
The clothes and the people were beamed up separately from two different universes. Fortunately they were the same people standing in the same places so embarrassment was minimised.
Why were the people beamed separately? Because they had to go through the biofilter, or they're scanned at a higher resolution, or something.
In short: Trek takes goofy narrative shortcuts, and the less we think about the little details the better off we'll be.

So I guess the idea could be that some period of time has passed between the two moments in which each one got a new hairdo to fit their Vulcan appearance.
