That's a good question. I always assumed Pike's lower half was still there but paralyzed.
Here's something no one ever seems to touch on...if the SNW is in the same continuity as TOS and the movies...even the refit Enterprise bridge looks primitive compared to the SNW bridge, which is huge with that big wide screen. In TMP the refit Enterprise main viewscreen is *small* compared to the SNW giant window...and the bridge itself is tiny too.
Knock yourself out.Best to keep Disco and SNW in their own timeline, one where events played out similar to the Prime Timeline...but some stuff was different...like the technology. And we can say that the Boimler and Mariner we saw were from the SNW version of the Timeline...and in the Prime Timeline, Boimler Prime and Mariner Prime also met Pike...but *Prime* Pike, on the Enterprise we saw in "The Cage".
There's no if about it. It is. Changing the look is no different than recasting an actor. Star Trek's III and four aren't in a different universe/timeline/reality because Robin Curtis is playing Saavik instead of Kirstie Alley. Here's something no one ever seems to touch on...if the SNW is in the same continuity as TOS and the movies
I think a lot of people would say Robin Curtis' Saavik does feel like she's from a different universe! There's no if about it. It is. Changing the look is no different than recasting an actor. She's a lot more reserved after Spock's passing, that's for sure.I think a lot of people would say Robin Curtis' Saavik does feel like she's from a different universe!
Exactly. The "it was not necessary" argument means it was also no problem to have it. And many elements of all shows and movies are not really "necessary" anywayI understand that an explanation isn't necessary for many, but to be provided with one isn't the end of the world.
So, are those movies in different continuities?I think a lot of people would say Robin Curtis' Saavik does feel like she's from a different universe!
Every movie and episode are a different continuity! So, are those movies in different continuities?
Knock yourself out.
You have "Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow" to give you your out if you must have clarification on screen.
So...Star Trek?until there's a detail that I guess some just don't like or whatever, and then just completely ignore that detail.
Because Tomorrow x3 + producers claiming that this is the Prime Timeline = TOS has been rewritten, and I'd rather pretend that I misheard something. That's both my favorite and least favorite thing to happen in quite some time.
We actually DO have on screen confirmation that SNW does not take place in the "original" timeline. Everyone just seems to kind of ignore it, but they told us flat out in the episode. I find it odd that people tend to hang on every detail... until there's a detail that I guess some just don't like or whatever, and then just completely ignore that detail.
TOS still existsBecause Tomorrow x3 + producers claiming that this is the Prime Timeline = TOS has been rewritten, and I'd rather pretend that I misheard something.
They changed a date. They've made bigger changes to TOS during TOS.Because Tomorrow x3 + producers claiming that this is the Prime Timeline = TOS has been rewritten, and I'd rather pretend that I misheard something.
It was rewritten back in the 80's with Encounter at Farpoint. SNW just further acknowledged that change.Because Tomorrow x3 + producers claiming that this is the Prime Timeline = TOS has been rewritten, and I'd rather pretend that I misheard something.
There's a chance something will get rewritten anytime a writer opens a notebook, laptop or file starting in 1965.It was rewritten back in the 80's with Encounter at Farpoint. SNW just further acknowledged that change.
Absolutely. You could fill a thread with all the things Trek has rewritten over the decades, starting right from the very beginning. There's a chance something will get rewritten anytime a writer opens a notebook, laptop or file starting in 1965.![]()
