Without a doubt. We don't need a Chekov right now. They shouldn't ever feel like they need to rush the crew into TOS mode.
There's still like 3 years before SNW gets to the TOS start date right?

Memory Alpha is kind of weird about date ranges, however. It says the timeframe for SNW is 2259, 2266. Not sure why the gap between two single-year listings, unless it's referring to the tail-end of DSC's 23rd century run, which ends at 2258, and then a gap of time to the main production run we're seeing now, several years later. TOS is listed as 2254 ("The Cage"), but then it's followed by 2265-2269 for the main series run. Something's off there, as this implies an overlap has already occurred, which is impossible. So, I dunno...

All of SNW so far has been in 2259. The sole excpetion is the flashforward in the first season finale, which is in 2266.
My head timeline has "The Cage" happening in 2254, some point early in Pike's first five-year mission. Enterprise returns home late in 2258 for routine refit and resupply with a second five-year mission for Pike and crew starting in 2259. That goes until 2264, when Enterprise returns home, Kirk assumes command, routine refit and resupply, then Kirk's five-year mission starting in 2265.Thereabouts, yeah. +/-

I remember when Star Wars: Rebels came out and my friends were talking about how "bad" the animation was. I asked "Compared to what?" "Well, Toy Story. WALL-E." "Those are multi-million dollar productions from one of the most successful animation houses in history. Go watch what else is being made in 3D on a TV budget light what my kids watch."

They ought do a flash-forward story, with an elderly La'an in the Maroon, telling a story when a grandchild of hers asks about Khan knowing Chekov. Then we see a young Chekov bumping into Khan during the events of Space Seed, while assigned to deflector control.
But they would use those zod awful maroons from A Quality of Mercy.
