Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Assuming they started breaking S4 right after New Years, I'd imagine that they would finish writing prob by April-May, give or take. Pre-poduction will start in August and they can start shooting in Sept/Oct. Most likely they would start shooting as soon as SFA wraps, which means that a 2026 air date for S4 is very possible.

From the time it premiered, critics and audiences alike praised Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and the series has won over enough for Paramount+ to have the confidence to renew it for Season 4 before Season 3 has even aired. Even as a fan of every show that's been released, I would say it's arguably the most popular show of the franchise since The Next Generation, though it took a conversation with director Jonathan Frakes to really drive that home for me...

I don't think standalones is the Trek magic SNW brought back. The core element of classic Trek writing is themes which are so obvious that they club you over the head. You can do this in serialized shows, but DIS and PIC either have had muddled and unclear or entirely absent theming.

2024 yeah. They wouldn't start writing whole episodes until its renewed
Sadly, this happens more often than you think. This was one of the issues the WGA was fighting for during the strike last year - "mini rooms" that underpaid or didn't pay a small staff of writers to draft up an entire season as a proof-of-concept to convince the studio to pick up a pilot, let alone greenlighting the series itself.

I don't think that would be an issue for SNW, based on what we know.

But yes, hopefully the writers are paid appropriate compensation for their work.

I gotta get me a flag like that....

"We'll see you in the spring when SNW goes back into production for S4" (Yes, that's an abbreviated paraphrasing)

I take it that means Spring 2025 for a 2026 premiere for S4?
Boy, that's a helluva long wait. I know we're getting season 3 next year, but you'd think Paramount would've tried to strike while the iron was hot.

I'd say renewing for season 4 before they even completed filming or airing season 3 shows that they are trying to strike when the iron is hot.

That said, they also want to get the most for their money; and they air one season of 10 episodes per year. Producing this stuff is very expensive and they want to make sure they get every cent They can from it. If they release it as a faster Pace the build up an expectation that that will be the norm going forward, and that's not something they want to do.

They have a streaming paradigm, and they're sticking to it.
