Assuming they started breaking S4 right after New Years, I'd imagine that they would finish writing prob by April-May, give or take. Pre-poduction will start in August and they can start shooting in Sept/Oct. Most likely they would start shooting as soon as SFA wraps, which means that a 2026 air date for S4 is very possible.

I'm not sure why they'd wait until next year to start writing a show that was renewed a month ago.

One day, I'd like to get some scripts from SNW, Picard, and Disco. It's been nigh impossible to find any of the live-action scripts for anything produced after Into Darkness.

I don't think standalones is the Trek magic SNW brought back. The core element of classic Trek writing is themes which are so obvious that they club you over the head. You can do this in serialized shows, but DIS and PIC either have had muddled and unclear or entirely absent theming.

There's also the fact that it's the only one of the modern live actions that doesn't feel dour.

2024 yeah. They wouldn't start writing whole episodes until its renewed but they'd want to have a general sense of what it would look like.

Sadly, this happens more often than you think. This was one of the issues the WGA was fighting for during the strike last year - "mini rooms" that underpaid or didn't pay a small staff of writers to draft up an entire season as a proof-of-concept to convince the studio to pick up a pilot, let alone greenlighting the series itself.

I don't think that would be an issue for SNW, based on what we know.

But yes, hopefully the writers are paid appropriate compensation for their work.

"We'll see you in the spring when SNW goes back into production for S4" (Yes, that's an abbreviated paraphrasing)

I take it that means Spring 2025 for a 2026 premiere for S4?

Boy, that's a helluva long wait. I know we're getting season 3 next year, but you'd think Paramount would've tried to strike while the iron was hot.

On the bright side, at least that means probably closer to one year between seasons 3 and 4 instead of two.

They tried to strike. But there was a strike. So they couldn't strike while there was a strike.

I'd say renewing for season 4 before they even completed filming or airing season 3 shows that they are trying to strike when the iron is hot.

That said, they also want to get the most for their money; and they air one season of 10 episodes per year. Producing this stuff is very expensive and they want to make sure they get every cent They can from it. If they release it as a faster Pace the build up an expectation that that will be the norm going forward, and that's not something they want to do.

They have a streaming paradigm, and they're sticking to it.
