Spoilers The Acolyte

Why did I think Selkath had already turned up in The Mandalorian at some point? Weird.
EDIT: maybe I was thinking of TCW

It is a middle of the road thing.
I often wonder how SW would have fared if it had been made as a hardcore Japanese Animé.
Give someone who made Ghost in The Shell or something alike a chance with this universe.

The western way of telling stories is not all that interesting.
Anyways I am not hating it, far from it!
It is just not....all that intriguing...just normal modern "conveluted" and the dialog is quite terrible at places.

Well I do love Dafne Keens character, and I like her Master as well.....
But really.....so insanely stiff the story is.....loosen up they must!

how do you view the total overall average rating at rotten tomato? I just give it a 5 star, but it only shows all audience individual rating, not total

Yeah...a short.....not anything long and substantial....I liked the IG production small episode though.

Not sure how to feel after the first episode. I'm certainly interested in the mystery and like the lead and Jedi master but the other 2 Jedi got on my nerves and I absolutely hate that fighting style and it's way over the top sound effects.

I'd rather not find out - I detest animé and don't generally enjoy animation much.

I'm not sure I like Lee Jung-jae much, but I am really enjoying The Acolyte.

I have a feeling we won't find out what happened for quite a while. They seem to be setting it up as one of the main mysteries of the show, so they're probably not going to reveal to much about what happened too early.
I just find it off putting when all the main characters know and it’s only the viewer who is locked out of the loop.

At the end of Ep 2, Sol says he failed to save Mae 16 years ago and heads off to try again. Presumably that means showing an understanding of what happened on Brendok and empathy for how it affected her.

It would be nice if I could use this week between episodes to put myself in Sol’s shoes and imagine how he might go about that… but I can’t, because I know so little about what happened that is driving these characters.

I finished the second episode. Together, it makes a much more coherent and entertaining story. Rocky start, IMO but so far worth the effort.
THE ASSASSIN: Oesha has a twin sister who is also a force user. Mae is the secret enemy.
MOTIVATION: Partly revenge for the supposed death of Oesha, and leaving Mae for dead. For failing the colony.
GOATEE GUY: Clearly a powerful Jedi in his own right, and apparently has a past that he'd rather die over than confess and try to make right. I think the guilt-poison suicide happened way too quickly, but it wouldn't be the first too-fast Star Wars death. Solid pointer, Jason.
THE BIG BAD: I suppose he would be Sith Adjacent, rather than True Sith of the Bane Dynasty. I gather that he has other apprentices acolytes, dark side force users who are helping him with a common goal. Perhaps not.
THE GOAL: Too early to tell, but certainly pricking the ego balloon of the Jedi, trying to put them in their place. Can a handful of dark siders take down the Jedi Order by themselves, without a galactic army and control of the political class? No.
But they can certainly take them down a peg or two, and cause some confusion in the process.

Special Mention: Master Sol provides a quiet, calming and underrated presence so far. In the fight with Mae he clearly shows superior combat skill but is also hesitant to resort to deadly force without clear danger to his own life. I get the feeling he could have carved her like a turkey, but he wanted to bring her in, not kill her.

I get a strong Qui Gon vibe from him, and I like it.

Overall, 7.5/10. I didn't get the same delicious anticipation as I did from Andor, and the show does seem to lean a little too hard into action to make up for plot, but I want to see this through to the end.

It's not just the viewer, though. Osha doesn't really know what happened, either. She thinks she does, but obviously has wrong information or at the very least missing pieces of the puzzle. Same with Mae, since she thought Osha was dead. Even Sol might not have the full picture.

Yes, it seems that some Jedi - Mae's targets - are carrying around secrets, but Osha is our POV character, we're in her shoes and on her journey.

I am curious if the story will stay relatively small scale/low stakes as is, or become big enough to at least warrant the involvement of the High Council, so a cameo by a slightly younger Yoda would be possible.
Or has Yoda not been on the council at a young age of 750-ish?

I'm enjoying this - along with Ahsoka and the early seasons of Mando, this works for me. It's authentically Star Wars-y.

Not something I'd say about the other shows.
