For Pete's sake, does anyone even watch the episodes? The only time Tilly passed anyone is after they dropped out from thirst. Going slower is actually the best strategy, since you wouldn't dehydrate yourself as quickly.
This and the body wears itself out too fast if you go full-speed. This is why I prefer walking and hiking over jogging. I can only speak for myself, but my body lasts longer.

I had a day off and just did my first 2024 hike yesterday. Felt exhilarating. I brought a mug of coffee with me, though, instead of water.

I'm dismayed to see so many people calling this episode boring. That's why the producers think every episode now has to have an overblown action sequence.

Yup. There's no pleasing Trek fans.

Why is this show obsessed with writing off their most interesting characters Every. Single. Season?
Because it's not their show. It's Burnham's.

But actually watching the episodes would take away from the Big Trolling Energy and clever body-shaming "jokes."
And ruin the opportunity for needless complaints.

Which is why rating systems baffle me.

"I was bored. 6 out of 10."

Confusing.

I can see why that might be confusing, but on the other hand, it does make sense.

Overall, the episode might be boring, but there may be elements that help save it. For example: "MERIDIAN", the A story with the planet was boring as hell. But the B plot with Quark was a lot of fun. (And introduced Jeffrey Combs to the franchise.) So if an episode was boring on one hand and would be rated a 3 most likely, the B story elevates it to a 5 because it is so much fun.

Because it's not their show. It's Burnham's.

They might see it that way, but I think they're only shooting themselves in the foot by eliminating every dynamic character eccentric Burnham. And I'm not even talking about Owo and Detmer this time

Lorca, Ash, Georgiou, Tilly, and now Saru. All were not only great characters, but had fantastic stories with Burnham that were all truncated.

They might see it that way,
Yes, they do. That's how the show is presented.

Possibly. I certainly think Lorca could have been better utilized, but BTS troubles really undid a lot of that. Oh well. C'est la vie.

I know it's been done to death by this point, I wish the Prime Directive had played more of a role in how to best proceed. It could've sparked some good debate between Burnham and Rayner. The idea that a clue is hidden on a pre-warp civilization is very interesting and provides some unique challenges to the crew.

Overall, I think it was decent and fairly solid.

I didn't think there even WAS a PD issue. I mean, the culture was already immeasurably screwed with by the Denobulans. As soon as it became clear they'd built a while religion around that tech, the PD question becomes academic at most.

As far as any Prime Directive violations (real, perceived, or otherwise), I'm going to assume Kovich will pull some strings if necessary, behind-the-scenes.

Burnham's "I'm not a god" strongly reminded me of "Who Watches the Watchers."
The message here though was somewhat opposite, though spirituality and religion/worship can be two different things.

Burnham says you can believe both. Who Watches the Watchers says you don't need religion....spirituality may be a different matter.

The PD still applies. The Denobulans hid the technology for a reason.

The PD question is only academic because of the RD.
