I never found terrible to be worse than abysmal. So qualifiers are very helpful.However, there have been a number of episodes that are abysmal but are not quite terrible, or vice versa if you wish, due to a few things.

The thing about prequels is that this, like Spock's Vulcan dyslexia, have a built-in explanation for why they were never mentioned again. They were cured offscreen (or in the case of Terran eyes, they all got an "upgrade" to match those of their prime counterparts after becoming envious about reading about their greater light tolerance on the Defiant's computer) and that was thatIt’s canon, unfortunately: terrans have a low tolerance for light.
