I'm sure there's a parallel universe out there somewhere in which T'Pring has a leash attached to the one in Spock's nose.

The crew will be in deep trouble because the Gorn will consider Kirk as member of the crew and when he sings "Rocket Man" everyone else won't have a chance of topping that.

Started a SNW re-watch. In the first episode, did they say that Chapel is a civilian? The rest of the show doesn't seem to bear that out.

I believe she is part of an exchange or expeditionary program.
A civilian medical aid and assistance program of some kind. So she really doesn't have an official Starfleet rank per se.
Yes, they did say Chapel is a civilian in the premiere. And yes, the rest of the series seems to have ignored this.
I mean, with a war on being contracted for service is not outlandish.
Phlox was never a member of the United Earth Starfleet and as far as we're aware never joined its Federation successor. Yet he spent 10 years on the NX-01 as the chief medical officer of the most famous ship fielded by Earth. This is not the first time - chronologically speaking - we've been to this rodeo and Phlox was a lot more than a Nurse.
