And as we've seen from 23rd century Trek transporter logs tend to show not much more than when someone beamed aboard.
I don't think the tech for seperating weapons, items, & gear while in the transporter buffer was common until the 24th century. And as we've seen from 23rd century Trek transporter logs tend to show not much more than when someone beamed aboard.
But jeez, the Federation - Let's trust this big wartime criminal. Yeah. Make him an ambassador. He's CHANGED, we tell you.
This was indeed bizarre!
This is the way that it has been for a long time. Look at the Allies in WW2 and the Soviets joining them. The German scientists being recruited? This was indeed bizarre!
Well, that was brutal. Star Trek's never gone this far into this kind of territory either in tone, the depths of the character's emotions and conflicts as portrayed by these remarkable actors, the level of tension they succeeded in maintaining throughout. The conversations were hard, and illuminating.
For the second time in this series, no reassurance in the conclusion. None at all.
No, it doesn't show Pike at his best, does it? Well, it was realistic in that respect, too. The contrast between M'Benga's experiences and POV and Pike's was stark.
DS9 tried to do this kind of thing. They were never once this good.
Olusanmokun is phenomenal.
Solid "10."
He didn't compel them. I thought that was clear. He wanted them there and suggested it would go far to promote peace if they did...And Pike - pretty much compelling his staff who were vets to attend that dinner. WTF is wrong with you, Pike? It made Kirk's dinner in STVI look tame.
Diplomacy is so weird. It's such a long game. This is real. This has been happening in the aftermath of war forever.
Hello, Doctor Von Braun.*
Look into the history of diplomatic efforts in the Middle East. The people who make peace are the people who made war.
Interesting show. I'm sure those who hated last week's comedy were pleased with this week's offering. It put me in mind of a DS9 episode.

*Sigh*

Rah himself - seemed to go out of his way to provoke M'Benga...why? He seemed to be a bit sadistic to me. If he was truly a good guy, he'd have left him the hell alone.
I figured all along that M'Benga was a character with shades of gray, and ditto with Chapel, and that's fine, makes them more interesting.
Speaking of Chapel, it's rather sad that we never saw a happy minute in their romance. I figure it's deader than Khan at the end of Star Trek II. It would have been nice to have seen some happiness for a little while. We know that by TOS that it wasn't a thing, but would it have hurt to see a little joy for a little while?
I'll hate to see her mooning over him in TOS because all she does is push him away in SNW. Talk about self-destructive.
The Federation looks pretty lame here, and Pike not much better. But the episode was solid showing M'Benga, Chapel, and Rah and their pasts and motivations for current actions.
I still hate Klingons.![]()
He basically told Una not to worry about any consequences of her truth last season before everything fell apart, so I wouldn't put too much weight on the few moments we had with Pike at the end of the episode.Definitely agree that SNW hasn't shied away from that. But I do think it was odd how nonplussed Pike was. "Ah, there might be an inquiry . . ." but basically no big deal. We'll see. Thought it was a great episode though! But the ending was a little soft in my opinion.
Right. Because SHE was the only one acting dodgy. OTOH, good to see that Pike can be unhappy with his people from time to time.Man, Ortegas was slow in response to "Captain on the bridge". She should be peeling potatoes for the next week.
Totes. Maybe more than one.It put me in mind of a DS9 episode.
I'm guessing that we're going to get that next week. I hope. A lot.but would it have hurt to see a little joy for a little while?
Some one up thread mentioned it in reference to MASHDid anyone else equate the sound "Incoming transport" with medical choppers? Brutal

Several MASH connections have been made. At least one love letter for a MASH inspired M'Benga episode and a hurt letter from a peeping tom*Some one up thread mentioned it in reference to MASH
