2.8 - I've been playing Tears of the Kingdom so much in the last week that when Ben found the tree cave I expected "discovery" and the cave name to flash up on screen.

Poor Javi. He'd only just started talking again.

Just found this thread. Not much I can add to the details. It is a great series with horrifying and heartfelt moments. I have never really gotten the impression that there is a supernatural element to what is going on.

I am expecting Shauna to go Daenerys by Season 5 if it lasts that long. I am sure she's manipulating everyone at this point, and will be surprised if that is not the case. Lynskey has already shown she can do a great job playing a duplicitous character back on Two and a Half Men.

One thing I am uncertain of though. Did they eat Shauna's baby. I'm assuming they did, but it may also have been just a vision.

Good ep. One more to go?

It's very tightly done. Jeff is just great. Everything is horrifying. Frodo's massive house !

So Frodo turned on Misty? I liked those two together. Maybe he didn’t get her voicemail? Or maybe something else is in the works (maybe he’s going to try and divert the authorities?).

When Travis finds out what happened to Javi it’s going to get even uglier than it already is. Is he going to help eat his own brother?

I constantly marvel at how people come up with this shit and write it down. The writers deserve a fair shake.

Interesting that Jackie's necklace clearly forms part of their ritual and thus part of the hunt, nice that we now know what the queen of hearts in the titles related to!

Shame about Javi but of all of them the actor was going to struggle to stay looking remotely the same age so it makes sense to kill him off. Travis is not going to be happy, only the fact that in dying Javi saves Natalie might keep him sane.

    OMG the mouse!

I can't believe Walter is dropping Misty in it, suspect he's going to misdirect the cops somehow.

@theenglish they didn't eat her baby. Shauna was able to bury it (could they not have eaten the placenta though?)

Shauna is most definitely the scariest one of them all.

If you can have belt soup you can have placenta soup. Would have been a lot of good iron.

Well turns out episode 9 was the finale, which feels like a weird length for a season of tv (season one was ten episodes, wasn't it?) The whole season felt a bit weirdly place: the first five episodes were really slow (did we need so much of Natalie in the cult?) and the last four had tons of stuff happening. I enjoyed it anyway, it's fun.

    FINALE SPOLIERS

Did not see Natalie's death coming. I do have to say though that Sophie Thatcher has been excellent all season and I think she's already a better actress than Juliette Lewis (nothing against her, really, she's just a bit...cartoony?), so we're still going to get the best of Natalie in season 3.

Walter is either a complete genius or really incredibly lucky his insane plan worked. Did he research moustached cop and know he'd be exactly the kind of creepy it would be easy to manipulate in such a way? Seems unlikely!

I'm pleased they've completely moved away from the supernatural element. In season one I thought Lottie's visions were getting so perfect that it was becoming hard to explain them rationally, but in season two it's very much all just a belief system the girls invented for themselves. "It was just us."

I'm happy Jeff can go back Googling himself now.

    Well...that was something.

Hunting Shauna, that was pretty messed up for a minute.

Frodo to the rescue! I hope that puts that whole story-line to bed.

I was a bit confused by the whole Misty syringe thing. Was the plan to sedate Lottie or kill her? That whole scene was kind of awkward I think. I did like the plane scene as she died though.

Coach has lost his shit. Methinks Coach Burgers are on the menu next season. Poor Javi, and poor Travis. That was so brutal.

I am still watching the season finale. I realized one thing I cannot stand about some of the scenes in this show. There are too many shots filmed on a stage during the wilderness scenes. This is particularly obvious when there is absolutely no wind, the snow does not even look like it has any moisture in it (should be powdery if they were really far north, or crusty/icy further south in Canada--and it should melt and make things wet--also, it never falls from the trees when they are walking through them!) Also, the effects of snow in the cold on bare skin are never dealt with. It may be nitpicky for some, but these hugely important details and omitting them in the context of the show is irritating.

The irony is that they filmed those scenes in Canada—but on a soundstage in Vancouver.

Agree on the pacing, lets hope that's a bit better next season. I really like Juliette Lewis but of all the characters Natalie has always felt the one where young/old versions didn't quite align and it makes sense to keep

Misty definitely isn't a psychopath. Walter on the other hand...poor Kevin, I mean yeah moustache cop was creepy and annoying, but these guys were legitimately investigating someone's murder and all! Walter scares me almost as much as Shauna (Woods plays him very well.)

I'm not sure on the supernatural front. There are still things that don't quite make sense, Javi mentioned a woman and someone must have been feeding him in that cave. There are the symbols and the way Tai could find them, plus there's Taissa's other self and the eyeless man.

Remember Lottie's comment that they'd given the wilderness something and the Wilderness would repay them? I'm laying money now that Van's cancer will go into remission.

I wonder wondering about that as well, unless the plan was to euthanise Lottie? That didn't quite work.

Of course one could argue Ben is the only one who hasn't lost his mind! I'm kinda amazed he's still with us, am starting to wonder if we might see a present day version of him!

Damn no wonder Travis in the now was so fucked up.

So Ben lit the cabin on fire and locked the doors yeah?

Also NEVER eat while watching this show, just don't do it :(

I thought it was a great finale, full of shocks. Upset about Natalie but who knows we might see older Natalie again in flashback scenes.

As to Misty with the syringe.. I assume she just armed herself in case they were interrupted and being Misty her weapon of choice was poison.

But at the beginning of the card ritual, Misty and Shauna still thought the psych team/police/ambulances were coming. Misty didn't know they had been called off, so why is she carrying a lethal dose of poison?

Yeah, probably just her self-defense. It just seemed weird in the moment.

So it seems there will be a bonus episode that will air at some point between season 2 and 3. There seems to be some interesting stuff that was cut from S2 (and would have made a lot more sense to keep at least some of it in!)

I don't think you necessarily need anything more to explain Ben's actions, and while again it would have been interesting, a post beating chat between Shauna and Lottie isn't essential

The scene where they invent the 'who gets hunted' game would have added something however as that really did seem to come out of nowhere!

I can't figure out if backstory about the cabin's original owner would have added something or ruined the mystery?

I watched both seasons the last month.

2nd season current day really dropped the ball. All I wanted was for it to go back to the 90's story.

Still looking forward to next season.
