Imperial officer uniforms are just a few steps removed from Third Reich Wehrmacht or SS uniforms. The Empire was an echo of Nazi Germany among other historical powers.

I mean, the history of Lucas' influences and inspirations are pretty well know:
Never mind the Vietnam allegories:

Did Lucas have anything to do with that particular film?

The skeleton in A New Hope/Star Wars was supposed to be a sandworm.
Has that been stated somewhere? That's commonly identified as a Krayt dragon (a species of Tatooine mentioned in the novel); and worms don't have skeletons.

Not this one, but there is a really similar shot in Revenge of the Sith where a Wookie is firing from a wookie...helicopter or something like that at a droid ship.

Hiding under the Falcon's floorboards and the "I have the death sentence" encounter in ANH are taken from Yojimbo.
Han and Luke's ordeal on Hoth is taken from Dersu Uzala.
Jabba's door in ROTJ and the Gungans emerging from the fog in TPM are taken from Kumonosu-jo ( aka Throne of Blood ).
Anakin's costume in AOTC is based on the young samurai in Seven Samurai.
Yoda rubbing his head in ROTS is another nod to Seven Samurai.

That feels a bit like between a rock and a hard place.
When the Excelsior got destroyed, they needed to acknowledge Elnor’s death.
But if he wasn’t onboard it would have come over very selfish and weird if they went “Thank the prophets Elnor is on shore leave on Risa” instead.
So I guess, not mentioning him there is confirmation he’s not dead without making it weird, weirdly enough.

Especially after they mention Excelsior getting blown away.
It's weird because you have to go on Twitter or whatever to find out that he wasn't on the ship at the time.

Yet the did precisely that for Kestra. lol
