I will be honest, I could have written a better ending to this story.

Could I executive produce a TV show? Probably not. Are there other producers on Imdb who COULD do a better job? Yes.
It doesn't matter. You don't have to be able to "do better" just to critique a TV show. Funny how no one ever asks to see someone's credentials when they praise a show. ;)

Maybe it was mentioned before but why is Crusher called Admiral when she is clearly just a Commodore?

Maybe for the same reason I am called "The Commander" although I'm still a Lieutenant. :-P

Shockingly bad. Didn't think it could get any worse, but it did.

Well I thought that was great. They left a lot to do last week, but we got the big finale and plenty of closure too.

Can't really be arsed breaking it down because I can't wipe the smile off my face.

Perhaps it's just empty fan service, but this fan feels thoroughly serviced.
You hit the nail on the head when you said: "empty".

I love the characters, I love their performances. This carries great weight, and makes the plot bearable. Imagine if that plot had been good and there were no reset buttons!

A good finale can cure a lot of ills, and I'm afraid this exacerbated them.

Still vastly better than seasons one and two.

Season one dragged Picard through the ringer, but dealt with things in his past in a satisfying dramatic story with payoffs, in the end the character was reaffirmed in a spectacular way, and the story expanded the universe. Season 2 had story logic problems but did have some social commentary and and an excellent premiere and finale.

Season 3 made things smaller, regressed, and indeed, made previous events less significant on a fan writer's whim. It hurt the series.

So we will disagree.

I think to not get a proper fleet battle of some sort was a bit of a rip off - Star Trek isn't necessarily about big, Star Wars-esque space battles but you don't give me the whole fleet like that and just do a couple of strafing runs.

I enjoyed it overall, some of the cheap pops (Seven's catch phrase tease, Q, Admiral Crusher (SF Medical series? Could be fun) got me going, but the series had it's best moments in episodes 4 (nebula jellyfish), 6 (fleet museum, return of Geordi and Data) and 9 (Shelby, seeing the E-F, seeing the E-D)

Season as a whole was fun though, but the finish feels incomplete due to being used to spin off too
