Q visiting Picard's son before he dies "later" adds complexity to his reasons for helping Picard move on from his childhood trauma. Why bother then?? Dramatically it's just terrible writing, exactly the same thing Matalas has done all season. We see a scene, we scratch our heads, someone cracks a joke, we smile, and everything seems OK till we use our brain cells.
Unless I misremember, Janeway said 'engage' for simple travel, just as Picard and Sisko did. "Do it!" was more for other activities.
Like I say, I could be wrong.
Either way, that's every nuTrek show now doing the stupid (IMO!) catchphrase thing.
IDK, the E-D took some damage from the Borg encounter. She needed those dents buffed out before being put on full display.I think they made a mistake. The "One year later" was applied one scene too early. That scene at Fleet Museum was clearly supposed to take place shortly after the final mission.
They kept the few things that worked and tossed everything else to tell a TNG 8 Season 8 serialized story.

I'm OK with that being a year later.
Yeah, it was weird seeing Riker, Picard, and LaForge "One Year Later" and still dressed identically to the way they did before.I think they made a mistake. Gonna give it an 8. It felt like a good sendoff, but they definitely were playing it safe. And the new ship...well....I dunno. Overall a fun episode, but was a bit underwhelmed.
Thanks for owning that. Appreciated.OK everyone, I will apologize for my crabbiness this morning, as the disappointment after giving the benefit of the doubt mid-season to this show led to such great fannish disappointment.
I will stand by my statements as before on the show but not my statements that are borderline personal, I do regret them and ask for understanding and will endeavor not to delve into such territory again.
Honestly it feels pretty disrespectful to the Titan name. Like, she had as much to do with helping save the Federation as the D did, and to just erase the namesake and rechristening it to the E-G just felt like a bit of a slap to the face of the Titan legacy.I'm gonna give is a 9. I really liked all of the stuff witht he OG crew, but I felt that renaming the Titan to Enterprise-G and Captain Seven was way too much.
"Don't remember the Titan" Is a terrible slogan.Honestly it feels pretty disrespectful to the Titan name. Like, she had as much to do with helping save the Federation as the D did, and to just erase the namesake and rechristening it to the E-G just felt like a bit of a slap to the face of the Titan legacy.
I will be honest, I could have written a better ending to this story. Please post the link to your IMDb so I can compare.
Don't worry I guarantee the next trip to the 25tf century or beyond will have a ship or class called Shaw.Honestly it feels pretty disrespectful to the Titan name. Like, she had as much to do with helping save the Federation as the D did, and to just erase the namesake and rechristening it to the E-G just felt like a bit of a slap to the face of the Titan legacy.
