actually it was pretty clear that they never met (or at least never had a conversation), what with 7 asking him about having returned totally human. They knew each other by game, obviously, which is no surprise.
No they could have met. You don't ask such personal questions from someone you just met so its completely understandable she didn't ask him that in prior meetings.

It's a big quadrant and a pretty big assumption that Seven would have met Data much less cared about him. She might be familiar with some of the records of the Enterprise but it's not like she didn't have her own adventures and then the whole issues of acclimating into life back in Fed society, becoming a ranger, etc. I don't think there was some special Oddfellows benevolent society that heroes of the galaxy get invited to and meet for ribs every few years, at least not canonically. Season 3 is as close as it's gotten. Jankom Pog wants in that fraternity.

B'Elanna knew about Data (she references him in "Protoype(VOY)" to the Pralor Automated Units) but even as a Starfleet officer and former Maquis never separated from the Alpha Quadrant like Seven was she only knew the surface and public details about him. So Seven might know far less, even after 23 years living in the Alpha Quadrant.

We also know Data is a legend on par with Worf. Raffi literally calls Worf a legend. Shaw geeks out over Geordi.

Seven knows full well how important Data is and his name. To call him the robot would be on par with calling Worf "the Klingon".

Even worse, it undermines everything about her this season insisting on her choice of name *and* literally every episode in Voyager where she was witness to the Doctor trying to become more human (including an entire episode where he inhabited her body), the attempt by the holoprogram publishers to deprive the Doc of legal rights etc.

She doesn't need to have met Data to call him by his name. It's against everything the character of Seven was shown to have grown into, having met Data or no. It's literally an arbritrary dialogue line to squeeze a few laughs.

Seven would be very, very familiar with the individual who thwarted the Borg assimilation of the Fed by putting the Borg to sleep. Also in one episode of Voyager she references somehow knowing about the events of First Contact, which means she had to know how Data thwarted the Borg yet again and literally melted the Queen.

Worf IS the Klingon. In a room full of people with one Klingon, and she is not introduced, that might seem slightly off, but this isn't a friendly get together. It was an easy method of differentiating. It's not the first time Seven had an awkward moment, and it was kind of a nice throwback to those. It doesn't undermine anything. She might not even be sure exactly what person is inside the Data/Lore/Soong/B4 thing. I'm not sure how up to date she was about it, so robot is not wrong at all.

As I mentioned in my edit, Data thwarted the Borg assimilation of the Fed not once but twice. It's a wonder every Borg in the collective isn't screaming for his head. As a former Borg, it's *far* more likely that Seven knows who Data is than not.
Borg don't generally scream for heads. I had a much naughtier reply that was really funny and involved REDACTED but I want the moderation staff to like me.

The show has made it clear it's not the same changlings we've known before and has tried to explain this multiple times.

Its only people who struggle to understand that that see these Changlings as "wrong"

And here we go again!

That's.
Not.
The.
Point.

They misunderstand how the OLD, ORIGINAL changelings worked. It's not that the new ones are "different", it's that the show factually gets the original changelings utterly wrong.

It's only people who struggle to understand this that, well, don't understand it.

Because she's popular -- and/or Jeri Ryan had a three-year contract? Note that she's still listed as a regular in the credits, as to opposed to the TNG actors who are all "special guest-stars."

And, honestly, she's had plenty of good stuff to do this season. It's just that it was possibly worth taking a moment, amidst all the hoopla and sentiment about Data's return, to acknowledge that this would be no big deal to Seven, who has bigger things on her mind at the moment.

"Right. Your old android buddy is back. Moving on . . . ." :)

Just like the previous ep took a moment to acknowledge that Troi and Raffi had never met each other before.

She should never have been on the show at any point.
