News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

Quite the opposite, the Kurtzman gang released all sorts of mediocre Star Trek streaming content. Their artistic decisions diluted the franchise in a most painful way. We have to stop them, we will stop them.
I think it's great, I want more of it. I won't stop them and will continue to pay to see it and support the merchandise and talk about the show. You should just stop watching, if enough people stop watching or talking about it then maybe it will go away. But by watching and engaging in the show, even negatively, you are helping make more of it.

Laugh for yourself, Sir. The truth is: social media matters, shitstorms matter, imdb scores matter, especially to a company like CBS, which aims to attract their shows to as many people as possible.

Forums like these on the other hand don’t have any influence on anything

We must not let them ruin this franchise any further.
My plan for a brighter Star Trek future:

- Social Media Havoc:
Find likeminded Trekkies with financial capabilities. Invest into shitstorms. Let them rain upon the Kurtzman empire.

- Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions:
Stop buying Star Trek products, stop watching Star Trek on streaming portals until they change their minds. Publicly divest your Star Trek memorabilia, make some noise. Sanction everyone, who was responsible for pitching Starfleet Academy.

- Friends and Family:
Tell everyone how disappointed you are in the artistic decisions of the Kurtzman empire. Explain to everyone what has happened to Star Trek and why it is important to turn the tide.

What a sad life you must lead.

If I said what I wanted to say, I would absolutely get a warning. That being the case I will simply and politely say that you should seek some form of professional help. To devote this level of ire towards a television/film franchise shows a very disturbed mind.

I mean I get it. If someone took over Star Trek one day and turned it into far right propganda I would certainly take issue with that and would eager for it not to be that anymore.

But if there's one thing that defines Kurtzman era, compared to earlier eras, it's diversity. Variety. Discovery is nothing like Lower Decks, Prodigy has no resemblance to Picard. Even the series themselves don't stay the same, with Discovery s4 being nothing like s1. Showrunners are being given the freedom to do their own thing, within reason.

Not every series is giving people everything they want, but everyone is getting something they want. Even the people who crave continuity of alien and starship designs, and the people who prefer seasons to be episodic instead of serialised.

Starfleet Academy is going to be a very Kurtzman era series, but that alone doesn't tell us much right now. Maybe it'll be about angsty traumatised teenagers, maybe it'll be fun and comedic, who even knows? People can certanly assume it'll just be more Discovery, but with a different co-showrunner I wouldn't bet on it.

Who can be bothered enough to do that? It's not that important. If you don't like it then don't watch. Certainly nothing coming from Star Trek atm besides Picard season 3 interests me, but if it does then I'll watch it.

Yeah, I know. Did you somehow think that anyone thought they did?

I'm definitely getting the impression that people here are a little lukewarm towards Starfleet Academy but a long long long way from signing a petition to get it cancelled.

What people?

I'm all for it, and several people have stated interest in it regardless of it, and we don't even know the basics of it yet.

"Lukewarm?" Can you be lukewarm on what amounts to a one sentence pitch?

I mean there's people who aren't enthusiastic at all, and there are people who seem into the idea of Star Trek Top Gun or Star Trek Hogwarts, but my perception is that the two equal out (at best), so I averaged them to 'lukewarm'.

I'm not sensing overwhelming positivity or outright hate.

1 day after the announcement? What do you expect?
