It is, you just don't like the results.
Wether it's a good sample size or not depends on the size of the total population you're sampling, and we don't because P+ doesn't release viewer numbers. But, and more importantly, the question should be wether it's a representative sample of the total population. This is Trek forum. We here are, arguably, some of the most fanatical and deviated viewers of the franchise. Do we represent most viewers? On the one hand, we are the most likely to be critical. On the other hand, as we've seen with franchise after franchise, the most dedicated are also the most likely to like anything with the franchise name on it just because it has that name on it. So... 
Also, if you go on, say reddit, you get a much less warm reception towards DSC than here.

The economics of streaming are such that a show doesn't have to pull TNG or even, necessarily, Enterprise numbers to be successful.
Ultimately this is a good thing, as people have a wider choice of entertainment tailored to their tastes.

No, actually he's dead-on and Absolutely Right.™ Really a brilliant way to open a pitch, since anyone involved would get the gist of the proposal quickly - with bonus points awarded for the brazenness.
You're correct only insofar that anything branded "Star Trek" by the IP owner is, in fact, part of the official IP. Just as Starbucks Keurig pods at the supermarket are as completely "Starbucks" as what they sell at their stores (without regard to whether any given Starbucks product is any good at all).
By "let's do Star Trek" it just means TOS-style wide-eyed exploration and adventure. Something that sadly wasn't even a dominant feature of some of the Berman-helmed series like ENT, a show that should have been a lot grittier and depicted the wonder of early deep space exploration in ways no Trek had since the original show.
Star Trek means people in red, blue and yellow/green, on the U.S.S. Enterprise, getting into crazy scrapes.

Of course, in a wider context, Star Trek means more than the Enterprise, but if you want to do a show that evokes the icons of TOS then arguably the Enterprise is the biggest icon of them all.

Just some general observations.
I've been sort of rewatching Enterprise and Strange New Worlds back and forth and what I think really jumps out at me is that SNW feels like a genuine successor to ENT. Visually, like the USS Shenzhou was to the NX-01, Strange New Worlds feels like an evolution to the look of Enterprise.

Which is something B&B were working on. I remember reading years ago that a lot of the things that made the show less gritty were forced on to them by the studios, to make things more recognisable as Star Trek. Like a transporter, phase-pistols, little things like that. Which kinda sucked.

Walkers crisps are the biggest crisp/chips manufacturer in the UK. internationally I think that they are known as ‘Lays’. This is a popular snack product in the UK.
