Slight corrections:

La'an doesn't have a dark secret I think. It seems common knowledge.

And Number One, as far as we can tell, is not an alien. Forget the ENT Illyrians.
We also only have 10 episodes, and they're trying to be mostly episodic. They can't spread it out as much as they could in the previous series.

They want use to get to know these characters as fast as possible. I imagine once they each get their episode it will probably slow down.

I think they called the Illyrians "humanoid species" or something - definitely another human look-a-like alien, not just genetically engineered humans.

This show got granted a second season already while the first one was still being filmed. They could have had waited with (at least one of those!) reveals until then.

Aaaaalso, and I'm just noticing now - what the hell happened to the Denobulans?

Last I know, they were fine doing all type of genetic engineering and sitting on the founding table of the Federation & had joint scientific outposts together with humans on ENT.

We saw a pair of Denobulan civilization researchers on Lower Decks.

For me, it's an easy ranking**

SNW*
LDS
PIC
PROD
DISCO

* - Assuming it continues at this level or improves,

** - and assuming upcoming episodes/seasons of the other shows are of similar quality to others in their series.

Then all episodes that expand upon a character's background are retcons. Kirk on Tarsus IV, retcon. Spock has a wife, retcon. McCoy dated Nancy Crater, retcon. ;)
Why was Tarsus IV the first thing that popped in my head when I thinking of writing a similar query. (Spock says query now. Retcon.)

What on earth was Uhura wearing to bed
If you're speaking of the headgear, I'll turn it over to @Nyotarules , who is more qualified to speak on the matter
Enjoyable episode, good twist about Number one and at last a TV show recognises that (a lot of) black women wrap their hair at night lol

I still think she should have stayed where she was. The idea of a lockdown is to stop people interacting with each other
That would result in a lot of people standing in corridors and turbolift cars. I assume "lockdown" means go to your quarters and stay there. Also avoid any unnecessary contact on the way.
