I stand corrected. I should have remembered that, especially since it was my favorite episode of DSC.
Pike met Amanda during Season Two of DISCOVERY. I don't remember if he shared any scenes with Sarek. Even so, since he encountered Amanda in her capacity as Spock's mother, it shouldn't be difficult for Pike to make the intuitive leap that the Vulcan ambassador is Spock's father.
Was a path I wanted to take. Still might.
The DSC lighting and other features of the Enterprise bridge were so bad. This is exponentially better.
Season 2 was originally supposed to rely heavily upon themes of science vs faith, but the change in showrunners torpedoed most of that.

Which mildly annoyed me since in the novels had a very different family, where Pike was adopted.

Loved that novel, especially for it's backstory for the Klingons and their former slavers, the Karsids.
On the one hand I'm wondering why they decided that they should be the ones to break a 56 year streak of his full name being a mystery. On the other hand, we've always known there was more to his name and knowing it doesn't change anything, so I guess I'm mostly indifferent to this news!

The rectangular viewscreen with the TOS running lights at the bottom(they even look like they're shaped and spaced the same as the old TOS running lights) is a vast improvement over that pointy-edged monstrosity that shared its shape with Discovery's. It's still too big for my tastes but at least it looks more like a traditional Starfleet viewscreen now.
