Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I don't give a floating fig what you like or don't like and what gets you home, but after sticking my head up here today I may understand why your "Location:" is what it is.

It is what it is because that was something I was told I lived.

I don't but I see no reason to argue it.

If they'd just called the series Star Trek: Pike we could've avoided all this concern over Anson Mount leaving and Kirk taking over!
I think, as others have noted, the question would always be "When's Kirk going to show up?"

Personally, I think that Kirk could have waited but that's not my choice to make. So, how it plays out will be another subject altogether. It definitely speaks to the icon of Kirk though.

Now the question is "When is Gary Mitchell going to show up?"
I suppose it depends on how long Spock and Kirk had served together, vs. Spock and Mitchell:
SPOCK: Our subject is not Gary Mitchell. Our concern is, rather, what he is mutating into.
DEHNER: I know those from your planet aren't suppose to have feelings like we do, Mister Spock, but to talk that way about a man you've worked next to for years is worse than

That's a good point, I hadn't thought to check the script for clues.

Dehner is actually introduced to Kirk in their first scene like they hadn't met, she was picked up fairly recently, so it's possible that she's making an assumption about how long Spock and Mitchell have worked together. Also Mitchell told her that Kirk asked for him to join his first command, so the two of them are presumably serving on the same ship during Strange New Worlds.

Dehner's doing crew evals, so she's probably reviewed their records.

Maybe. She says she's there to study crew reactions during emergencies and this seems to be the first time she's had the opportunity to do that job, so it's possible she hasn't had reason to check anything yet.
