Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

It's both:
A momento is a reminder of something, especially a past event or time. It most often refers to a keepsake or a souvenir.

Momento is an alternate spelling of memento. It is sometimes considered a misspelling, but it is commonly used enough to be considered a variant. A momento can also refer to a warning. It is sometimes seen in the Latin phrase memento mori, but in this case it should be spelled memento, since it uses the Latin spelling.

So probably Pike dealing with his impending doom.

Possible first 4 episode names. It's from WeekInNerd but my phone won't let me copy the link.

Episode 1.1 “Strange New Worlds”

Episode 1.2 “Children of the Comet”

Episode 1.3 “Ghosts of Illyria”

Episode 1.4 “Momento Mori”

Illyria is Number One's homeworld from D.C. Fontana's old Pike-era novel Vulcan's Glory.
Now those are some TOS-quality titles.

Ghosts of Illyria?

Looks like ENT's "Damage" is getting that sequel after all...
Hm, the with those ridges, they could easily look like Antarans from a distance.
Those leaked filming shots we had of an alien protest, people thought were Antarans, maybe it's them.

Though as pointed out, Illyria was also the name of Number One's homeworld in Beta canon. They've already adopted 'Una' from there, they might adopt that as well.

Did any Post-Enterprise novels connect the planet and species?

Nope. It's been forever so apologies if I'm mixing up details, but in Vulcan's Glory, Illyria is an old Earth colony that practises selective breeding and assigns everyone numbers based upon their abilities. "Number One" was their best of the best.

Later novels gave her the name "Una" but kept some details of her D.C. Fontana backstory like the name of her homeworld. SNW has already changed Uhura's backstory from what old novels established, so it could be a reference to her homeworld or the ENT episode or anything.

When you posted this I pictured Data reciting the dictionary definition :).

I wonder if she is still considered a citizen of the "United States of Africa". Never been mentioned on-screen as far as I can remember, but I distinctly recall that was allegedly her place of origin.

So Paramount+ has no excuse not releasing the trailer now. They released the first trailer for Season 2 of Picard over 6 months ago. Why are we waiting for a teaser to be released a month before the series premieres? Why the hell is Paramount being such stiffs?! ANYONE FROM THE INSIDE GOT ANY DAMN INFORMATION OR WHAT?! I'm actually getting angry now...there's no justification for this lack of coverage and advertising! NONE! THEY ARE INTENTIONALLY SABOTAGING THE SUCCESS OF SNW WITH THESE ACTIONS!!! Its JUST LIKE the Star Trek Beyond lack of advertising....there's literally no info for the casual viewer to tune in...only info for the DIE HARDS! What is up with that?!

There's still two months before the series premieres.
Right...day after Star Wars day. But still my point stands: They had the Picard and Discovery trailers shown at the Star Trek day celebration last September. Should've been a teaser at LEAST when Super Bowl Sunday happened.

Nothing. The marketing cycle is a smaller window.
