Maybe the flatness of the screens just isn't important anymore? This is a starship bridge, not a home theater.

It doesn't bother me. After all, the TOS Enterprise had one of the first great flatscreen televisions on its bridge. :) Even the other monitors on the ship were flat.

I just find it funny more then anything because unless its retro futuristic setting like fallout technogly is always going to outpace a reasonable prediction of the future beyond the 20th century. Why you think they had to remake tomorrowland every 5 years. But i would like to see some buttons, on the show people need to push buttons.

I'd say "tape" was an anachronistic term still used to describe certain tech in the 23rd century. You may not remember the early days of CDs, but often even CDs were referred to as 'records'/'record albums', even though they were not vinyl platters with small grooves any longer.

I've been trying to come up with a good reverse acronym for T.A.P.E.S. for years.

I know dozens of people who refer to any act of recording as taping, media notwithstanding.

They could be hardened to be resistant to radiation and such. I mean, they ARE in space, and you can't afford for them to go out.

This reminds me of one of Bill Maher's new rules: "The record scratch sound effect is so obsolete that the thing that replaced records is obsolete."

There is nothing about the term "record album" inherent to Vinyl. CD's are recordings as well, and albums are collections of songs, regardless of medium. In fact you could even call a cassette tape a record album and be technically correct.

I still call a burned hard drive of songs I like my "mixtape."

True, but, I'd want some nice 4.1 surround sound for my viewscreen though.

    Cool! I didn't catch that.

No, Star Wars Day is May 25th.

Right? They are ripe for picking and we are smart and sarcastic! :bolian:

I really like both intros. I think they fit the shows well.

Please don't bet my money. I'm a government worker.

    Seriously, that would be... beautiful.

I've never been keen on the Discoprise, but that photo's the closest anyone's come to selling me on it.

    Thank you.

I liked the design before, but having it to examine from every angle has boosted my appreciation. There are still things I would have done differently but I can now better see their reasoning for the changes.

On the tech side, it's a killer kit. Believe it or not, only two things on it are glued together. The retaining rings that hold the bussards, makes their spinning possible. Otherwise it can be completely broken down into parts. I'll show this on the model building thread when I do a full spotlight on this kit there.

She looks better in TOS Enterprise hull colors.

When you find an angle that hides the pylons and the neck, it looks pretty good ;)

Now I wanna see the classic movie ship with straight nacelle plyons just to bother people.

I'm pretty sure it will happen. To paraphrase McCoy, "You know producers; they love to change things."
