Yeah, Laconia is a major plot element for Books 7, 8, and 9 which is simply getting an early introduction on the show.
Nothing's been confirmed, at this point it's just popular speculation.A spin-off and a movie have been confirmed haven't they? That's what I read, hope it wasn't clickbait.

Doesn't the book feature a 30 year time jump after the events of season 6? Would the roci still be around?if they did a fold n hold on the Roci set (pretty much the only one that's stood the whole time) things could move on, if got torn down then things aren't so good for some-one to take over and continue.

I'm so glad to hear that!!The good news is that most reviews say that the season is a very satisfying conclusion, so as impossible as it seems, it sounds like they pulled it off!
In terms of culture and language it is great to see a truly international future and not just America in space which is what pretty much every ST other than DS9 feels like. Discovery for all it's diversity in other places feels like the entire crew is from California.I've mega-binged the entire show over the last couple of weeks, now ready for the final episode...
What impresses me most about this series (which is very very good) is the world building, especially the Belters with their culture and language. Its the sort of things ST should have done a lot more of...
Helps that it's based on a series of books that did a lot of the heavy lifting.I've mega-binged the entire show over the last couple of weeks, now ready for the final episode...

I did not know that!the initial intent was to create an open world gaming system, not a linear narrative.
Yeah, the original project was going to be an MMORPG which is where the bulk of the initial world building and research comes from, and when that didn't happen it pivoted to a pen & paper RPG.I did not know that!
