They need to reach an agreement with Disney to acquire the rights to rebroadcast it. The last time the rebroadcast rights were held was by the Comedy Center channel.
That's definitely a finale. That's something that's putting a bow on it. Kinda like what they did in 'Only Fools and Horses' only to undo it years later when they brought it back.
Regardless of what Selman wants, if FOX wants a finale, they'll do it. If not, they'll simply replace him with someone who will do what they want.

Fox Network will probably just buy the movie and air it on their own channel. I don't think they'll do anything else with it.
