Simpsons Showrunner: They Will Never Do a Season Finale

Fair enough. Sounds even more complicated than I originally realized. I don't think the Fox Network has to worry about it ending anytime soon, and even if it did, it would live on in syndication. The cast is not getting any younger afterall.
They need to reach an agreement with Disney to acquire the rights to rebroadcast it. The last time the rebroadcast rights were held was by the Comedy Center channel.

The network doesn't give a darn about a movie. They want those ad dollars

Regardless of what Selman wants, if FOX wants a finale, they'll do it. If not, they'll simply replace him with someone who will do what they want.

Then why all the brouhaha about a sequel that's been posted about recently?? Because that seems like a possible conflict of interest if the network doesn't want one. Because inevitably, it would come from the same creative team.
Who said the network didn't want a movie too? It's not an either/or proposition.

I didn't, but there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports. In a best-case scenario, both the network and studio would go in on it, no?
Fox Network will probably just buy the movie and air it on their own channel. I don't think they'll do anything else with it.

That is just passing money from one hand to the other. I imagine the sequel will do its pay-per-view and premium channel rounds on something like HBO Max.

Does the FOX network even air movies?
