True, even in Encounter at Farpoint we learn immediately that Riker is one of those types who refuses to allow the Captain to put himself in danger.Hell, from 1964 until 1987 the Captain of the ship was pretty much always in the landing party or away team. TNG Season 1 was the first time in Trek that the Captain opted to stay on the ship much of the time and let his XO do the dirty work.

Now THAT is something I do like. Burnham gets more Kirkian every day, and I like that. I just wish they would quit giving Sonequa the pep talk speeches, I mean seriously. Stop.Which is something I like about DSC. Even transplanted to the late 32nd century the crew acts like they come from the more freewheeling days of the 23rd century.
But later he seems okay with it.True, even in Encounter at Farpoint we learn immediately that Riker is one of those types who refuses to allow the Captain to put himself in danger.
Thank goodness for that, too!But later he seems okay with it.![]()
That, too. Honestly, in this case I remember me and mom sitting in front of the TV together, watching it with rapt attention. I already loved Star Trek, but TNG deepened that love to where even now, 33 years later, I still love it like the day I first discovered it.Any fan who doesn't get choked up when Admiral McCoy and Data talk and walk in the corridor is beyond hope.
Janeway would have said the same about Burnham and her crew as she did about Kirk's. "The whole lot of them would be booted out of Starfleet today."
Best part of Burnham. Love her command presence and speeches as necessary.Which is something I like about DSC. Even transplanted to the late 32nd century the crew acts like they come from the more freewheeling days of the 23rd century.
I had no issue with her dressing down of the Akaali leader. I know some people here did and said she was condescending to him but it was one of the most sincere, 23rd century-sounding things she's said and I liked it.
YesEpisode 5 is still not showing up on Paramount Plus on Roku for me. anyone else having this problem?
