Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Oh, I'm not expecting them to kill anyone. It would be nice to have unknowns in there rather than the new Trek theme song be "It's a Small World. "
Which is why my preference is a new original character, but if (if) they do use Uhura, she at least isn't a really developed character in the prime universe. So I would rather see her as a regular than say McCoy or Kirk as examples. And yes in general (outside of events where it makes logical sense for a character to be part of a story) I am not a huge fan of keeping things so closely connected, character wise. Having Picard show up in Sisko's story with the Borg, makes perfect sense, having Worf get sought out for Way of the Warrior, makes sense. Examples I didn't really care for Spock having a brother, Micheal being a foster sister. Sela being a dead ringer for Tasha.... Everyone's individual milage will of course vary.

Part of me hopes this is an Earthlike planet - a parallel Earth of sorts like we often saw in TOS - but methinks that trope was largely left in the late 1960s.

I seriously love the Forehead Alien wearing a shirt and tie! Also, looking over the apparent translations of those signs, "No Pride in Genocide" does have a catchy ring to it.

BTW, have they indicated at all when this thing will air? Must be at least another year out.

All anyone is saying is 2022. I would guess no earlier than the summer, given that winter/spring is probably when Picard season 2 airs.

One of the aliens seems to be the same species as the alien girl in the Picard Short Trek.
But it's hard to tell from that distance.

And could also be reused makeup to save money and not deliberately intended to be the same species, but we'll see. Trek loves to recycle things, makeup prosthetics being part of that.

Well one of that species also showed up in DSC Season 3.

Though the make up on the guy in that photo is a lot more pronounced then the others.

Actually, I heard Tuvok was born on Earth's moon (Vulcanis Lunar colony)

Tuvok is from the "Vulcanis Lunar Colony", but the jury is out as to whether that is a moon colony in the Vulcan system (probably the intention) or a colony on Luna (probably just fun fanon).

I assumed it was the moon of the neighbouring planet seen in Star trek 2009 (I of course know it's an alternate timeline, but presumably Vulcan's solar system is still arranged the same).

Going to toss out a story possibility that has a almost 100% chance of being wrong. The episode is dealing with the arrest and trial of Garth Izar. We are finally going to see Axanar. Peters did it! He got CBS to bend and let him do a story on one of their shows! Or someone else did it because it would be a good story.

I'm seeing unslotted pylons... :D
