    Two ideas I'm liking:
    • Robau-Prime as commanding admiral somewhen between Comsol and Nogura.
    • Boyce meeting Guinan.

    Pike walks into sickbay.
Pike: "Doctor, I need a drink really..."
    Pike notices Guinan.
    Guinan: "Hi, Chris."
Pike: "Who are you and where's Dr. Boyce?"
Guinan: "Dr. Boyce isn't real. Or rather, he's always been me, and I've always been him."
Pike: "But you're a black woman."
    Guinan: "Perceptive."
Pike: "I've been having drinks with an old white man."
Guinan: "You've been having drinks with me. You only saw an old white man because you've always had a tendency to see only what you want to see. Just like when you say you don't want women on the bridge, but take no objection to all the other women besides Number One who are on the bridge. You see them as men, too."
Pike: "If I only see people as I want to see them, why do I imagine an old white man visiting me in my quarters instead of say an Orion Slave Girl."
Guinan: "You really aren't the most self-aware person around, are you?"

Yeah, but no. That's not how I'd like that meeting to go.

If they have Boyce, they'll probably leave him as a sage but rework the rest of it from the ground up. They changed Pike and Number One to an extent, so it'll the same case with him, if they have him.

Is it really so much changing them when they had all only been in one episode (two with Pike) of the entire franchise, before Discovery season 2?

Not really, but I'm posting to the audience here that has this image built up.

Has anybody suggested Alan Dale for Boyce?

Not to my knowledge, probably because he’s often played creepy-bad characters with their own insidious agendas and could never be seen as being trustworthy.

People play against type quite often (also, playing villains is something he does more in American media). In fact, the actor who originally played his Dynasty character played Lincoln on TOS.

Here's a 2018 scene from Neighbours, when Dale returned to the role that originally made him famous:

I just looked him up. He was born in 1947. John Hoyt was born in 1904. I guess it's true. 70 really is the new 60.

Didn't Alan Dale play the Romulan Praetor in the opening scene of Nemesis?

What's wrong with Boyce offering alcohol again? I'm confused over what the issue is with him. It is a familiar trope and they would probably want to put some kind of a spin on it like maybe they like drinking wine from Picard's vineyard which might be something that has been around for centuries or maybe Boyce has just given it up. I have talked about how Boyce should maybe be dying from some terminal disease so maybe that is why he gives it up or maybe you do some comedy were he uses his medicine as a mixer for some Saurian Brandy and that is how he gets past the bad taste of the medicine. Lots of things they could do.

Lots of people want to share a drink to talk about emotional stuff. It's a common human behavior, and simply because it may be problematic is not a reason it shouldn't be portrayed as a facet of asympathetic characters in drama.

There's really no place for Phillip Boyce in SNW so I hope they get him off the stage as quickly as possible.

You know what I would like. They should have a cameo or even a small role in the pilot episode for Laurel Goodwin who played Colt in "The Cage." She is the last living cast member from that episode. She could play the new Colt's mom or a Admiral who is Colt's mom and mentions it to PIke in casual conversation such as how is she doing on the Yamato or something like that.
