This. Heck, there are no rules for streaming, they can give us any length of story they want, 10, 30, 60 minutes. Just a nice one off, showing Archer as president or even past that, getting a visit from T'Pol, cameos of others, day in the life or one last adventure, anything and everything is possible. Use the Discovery/Strange New Worlds/Picard sets to keep costs down if necessary.

Reviving past Trek series is not the function of Short Treks. Short Treks are meant to add to the shows already being produced.

Star Trek: The Romulan War 3D animated series, with a new voice cast/characters and occasionally guest starring characters/actors from Enterprise and the titular starship herself amongst other Trek alumni. Total ripoff of The Clone Wars: absolutely. I just think if they ever wanted to do the Earth-Romulan War justice as this mega event this would be a cool way to do it that will never happen.

Well maybe they could expand the definition of Short Treks to include what they're talking about.

I think the NX-01 crew will get more mentions and callbacks than most other shows, just because of it's area in the timeline. But I don't think it will be brought back. I used to want a Romulan War series or a Kzin war series but I will admit, I'm ready for some non-war. Now if they wanted to do that Section 31 series set much earlier in Georgio's career (lets see Prime Philippa wasn't as clean cut and by the rules as we know: we only knew her for a few minutes and a really good operative would not have been as obvious as the black badge types), then that could well be a gap bridger.

I don't think it would happen, but Yeoh can pretty much play any age she wants to, or in my Yeoh centric viewpoint, can do absolutely anything she decides to do. I'm still pretty sure she actually levitated in Crouching Dragon. Ah, Michelle Yeoh. Where was I.

No I don't think Enterprise will get a sequel. It had a good season and a pretty good season, but its just not enough to make it happen.

Doubtful. They’re not going to build new sets for a DS9 or ENT Short Trek that only lasts 15 minutes or less.

Okay cool. But I don't think you need any of that to tell a ten minute short of something like a couple of characters talking or to sell an interesting idea. I think of things like that Power/Rangers short film that told an interesting story in a couple of minutes on miniscule budget with decent special effects used sparingly, or The Night of the Doctor which is Paul McGann in a hallway and a cave. They could also outsource stuff like props or sets from fans if they really wanted. Which they won't. But they could.

Star Trek has always been keen in bringing back veterans from previous series, we even got special guest appearances on PICARD. Has DISCO brought any guest stars back from Trek's past? If not, I would agree ENT would be the logic choice for a return.

Well Discovery's going to the 30something century next time so I doubt they'd do it but the new Pike show could do the same thing.

Actors, no. Characters, yes. Various characters from the original show and the Enterprise itself have appeared on STD. New actors, Enterprise with an STD makeover, but I feel this still counts.

The OP asked if there was the possibility of CBS producing a sequel series to ENT. Sure, I suppose there could be an episode of SNW that has Jolene Blalock in old-woman makeup, and maybe some flashbacks to older Archer, Reed, etc. But that would be the extent of it. CBS has moved on from ENT and the chances of a new sequel series to it are nil.

Tell that to Alex Kurtzman, the guy actually in charge.

The Picard series stemmed from a short Trek idea that originally was to feature Nichelle Nichols as Uhura being being visited in a hospital by a young Picard. Which turned into the development of a short using Patrick Stewart as current Picard. Which lead to the series we now have.

Star Trek shorts are whatever the powers that be want them to be. They may have started as only a companion to Discovery, but obviously their intent now is more open ended if they choose them to be.

In other words, it is 100% possible for them to do an Enterprise short if they want to, since they were considering an Uhura and Picard one.

Not that I doubt you for a second, but that’s the first I’ve heard of that. And putting aside the fact that Nichelle Nichols wouldn’t have been remotely able to do something like that, what would be the point of it other than seeing a frail and possibly dying Uhura one last time? Are fans really itching to see that?

My original point was that CBS is over ENT. They have no intentions of making any kind of follow-up to that show, and anyone thinking that an ENT Short Trek could be in the works is just deluding themselves.

You admit to not knowing what's going on behind the scenes in your first paragraph, then immediately say as fact that "CBS is over ENT". Slightly hypocritical, but okay.

Besides which, nobody's saying from what I'm reading that they think it's in the works. Everybody's being pretty realistic.

People are just saying there's no reason it couldn't be if a higher up wanted it.
And that some fans would be pretty thrilled with it.

    Nothing wrong with healthy optimism.

I’m sorry that I’m not a fountain of knowledge about some lame idea for Nichelle Nichols to be dying in a hospital and visited by some no-name actor. But do you know what I am knowledgeable about? Back in January I was at the Farpoint convention in Baltimore and heard Anthony Montgomery speak. He basically said what I did: that CBS has no interest in ENT and the NX-01 crew will never be getting back together. Well, I figure if anyone knows what he’s talking about on this subject, it’s him. So I’ll stand by what I wrote.

    1. Please don't be rude.
    2. The actors are the last to know these things, so what Montgomery says means very little to what's going on in the writer's room. After Nemesis, every actor on TNG said their characters would probably never be seen again. Things are done until they're not. Who knew there would be a Pike show coming?
    3. KURTZMAN: "We don’t have any immediate plans [for Archer], but I would say that all characters in the ‘Star Trek’ universe, if we find a reason to bring them back, we would do it."

Which means, again, ANYTHING is possible. You are right to say it's possible we'll never see anyone from Enterprise again. But, and here's the really cool part, we're also right to say it's VERY possible we'll see something to do with Enterprise. And things change. Even from January to now. So stand by your negativity all you want. One is a liar to say it's impossible.

    1. You called me hypocritical because what I posted didn’t jibe with your personal feelings. I’d call that being rude as well. So I think we can both dial it down a notch.
    2. How do you know that the actors don’t know what’s going on in the biz? Are you an actor?
    3. I’m sure what Kurtzman means is that while there’s a slim chance that anyone from a past less-popular Trek show could have a cameo in a future Trek production, don’t expect a new show to focus around them a la an ENT relaunch.

And I’m not being negative, I’m being realistic.

I was calling you a hypocrite based on facts, not feelings. You contradicted yourself within 2 paragraphs. After starting this all on ignorance in the first place on what a short trek was.

It was nicer than calling you a liar.

I would not take a bet on those odds. I'll stand with Dukhat on this one.
