How about a sequel?

KIRSTEN BEYER: So, at the very, very beginning, we were talking about ‘Short Treks’ for the first time, and what kind of stories you could tell — and we were actually beginning with an Uhura story, and the idea was that we very much wanted to see we could bring Nichelle [Nichols] back in at this point in time, and then see what kind of stories [Uhura] might tie in to.

And then Patrick’s name came into the mix, and could we get him, would he be interested… so the very first idea was a meeting between Uhura and Picard — a very, very young Picard.

M'rk, the only person I see calling someone else names is you. Hypocrite, liar, rude... none of it is "nice." Kindly cut it out right now. Everyone here is welcome to express their opinions, whether positive or negative, as long as they do not attack other members.

Great idea!! Enterprise is a very under rated Star Trek show and didn't get a fair run

Four seasons, 98 episodes, that's a decent run. Rarely do sci-fi shows last longer than five seasons.

In regards to this show getting a sequel of sorts, I'm not talking about a Trek Short or X character appearing on another show. I mean a straight up revival of Enterprise. It doesn't have to be the whole cast, it can be a mix of old and new characters.

I would settle for a time travel episode, though. We have seen many episodes where our heroes spend an episode in the past or future. What about the opposite? Archer is no stranger to time travel. What if DIS or PIC did an episode where Archer, Daniels, and a few ENT characters show up from the past, because TCW stuff?

It'd be a gimmick episode for sure, but it'd also be a fun crossover and could be worked into the main show's overall plot.

    Interesting.

Another possibility: pick up on the adventures of the Enterprise that was thrown back in time in ''E²". Pick the story up in year 16 of their journey through the Expanse.

The bottom line here is, do any of the ENT cast even have an interest in reprising their roles? There's a huge difference between Patrick Stewart reprising his role for a Picard-centric series and Scott Bakula or Dominic Keating reprising their roles for a 7-to-15 minute Short Trek or a single flashback episode. Remember, the ENT cast belongs to a show that CBS has deemed a failure. Just like their decision not to waste time and money making HD versions of DS9 and VOY because of their perceived lack of fan interest after mediocre TOS-R and TNG-R sales, they're not gonna focus their energy on bringing back actors from a show that even the shittiest network ever (UPN) cancelled.

We know that they spent multiple generations in the Expanse, but we don't know many of the details. I think there are lots of stories to be told. And it's a good way to explain why the old crew is still on the old ship after so many years.

It's just something to talk about to pass the time.

I understand that. And of course there's no harm in chatting about it. I just find it to be an unrealistic expectation.

I would totally watch this. Fun combo of a familiar Trek and a new one. An opportunity to do what Voyager chose not to do-- ditch the protocols that no longer applied and make the shift to a multifunctional ship, essentially cut off from Starfleet, forced to barter, deal with the aging ship, raise families. It's fun to imagine our older cast members playing themselves several years into the new dynamic - Archer married to Esilia and having children, Trip and T'Pol married, young Lorian. A dream, but still neat to think about.

Unfortunately, this won't appeal to the masses. It's more of the same, Enterprise (2001-05), but everyone is older. It's Voyager, but stranded in the past instead of far away. We also know they kind of just hide out, waiting to catch up to the future. E2 told this story already.

    Let's move forward.

I'm a writer, dreaming is what I do. There are 117 years in that journey, and we only heard a tiny fraction of what happened. They would have done WAY more than just hide. They talked about alliances. Their ship showed damage, repair, modifications. They had to survive and have kids and grandkids. They interacted with other species, they fell in love (or not... poor Malcolm), they rescued people like Esilia.

Of course no one will ever do it on TV, or even in a book, I'm not talking about hard $$$ reality here. I'm dreaming! To me, there are a zillion compelling untold stories there. The Trip/T'Pol love story alone would be worth watching or reading about, since TPTB so cavalierly caved on telling it on the show. But also, watching Lorian grow, finding out how Trip died, seeing the effect of that loss on his family, on Archer. Lorian rising to the captaincy, driven and obsessed simply because he made a promise to Archer-- who likely didn't realize how high the cost would be for Lorian. This is high drama! Great storytelling material. :)

HopefulRomantic, I get what you're saying. Maybe write fanfic? In terms of an on screen continuation, it won't happen. We're looking at the Enterprise crew on the NX-01 or a different ship set after the final mission depicted in "These Are the Voyages..."

Way ahead of ya, Jean-Luc. :p If I had the time, I'd take a crack at the whole 117 years.

And it goes without saying (for me anyway) that TATV was just Barclay playing a prank on Riker on the holodeck and had nothing to do with reality. ;)

Well no, as Discovery started a hundred years after Enterprise. So only people from the longer-lived species would still be around.

Discovery has been shown to have a holodeck. Plus there should be video logs in the historical database. So the NX era should be featured quite prominently. It would be different from a physical appearance, but it would still count.

Not to mention that the Temporal Cold War was a thing. What is to stop Discovery from traveling back to the early days of the Federation?

    While I don't think they'll do it.

It would be fun if the crew of the Discovery thought they were traveling forward in time, but in actuality they traveled backwards. They spend most of the third season wondering around trying to figure out exactly what time period they're in while not giving themselves away.

No asking "hey, what year is it anyway?"

Big reveal about 12 - 15 episodes in that they're in the year 2166.
