Some first time impressions, on S4

So, having watched up through ep 7, just want to say I'm loving season 4. Really awesome, Seven of Nine is great! And the cast and the vibe of the crew and camaraderie to me really feels like it's gelling.

I had been poking at a Voyager watch on and off for a few years, just getting back into the Trek big time lately. Scorpion in particular I found just excellent, like a crowdpleasing (or me pleasing) hit with clever touches and character work to back it up. Just my kind of jam, very cool and entertaining. Very 90s, lots of tropes I love, some you can't quite put your finger on. Just really a vibe I like.

As an example, I rewatched the movie First Contact last month and really like it, but I like this Scorpion two-parter even better. It's just jamming, it's badass, it's fun, I can't believe it took me this many years to check it out. Glad I'm on it now!

The Doctor continues to be one of the best characters of course. And everyone seems to have stepped up, or the material is for them, at least for my taste. Just TV gold. The follow-up episodes giving us more Seven of Nine backstory and her acclimating to the crew, all really well done, like The Gift and The Raven, really good eps. Some touching stuff, just really unique and cool character dynamics, fresh stuff. Day of Honor was really good too. Loving the whole crew. And for me as a first time viewer, it's really working for me.

Next up is Year of Hell, which I hear is awesome.

So pretty much, not a full on review thread or anything, just wanted to share my enthusiasm, and let you know I'm really digging it. Great stuff.

Season 4 is when the show finally found itself. Besides Seven joining the cast, the rest of characters' personalities were finally more grounded and consistent. The show finally found a romance that worked well, in Tom and B'Elanna, and a fitting main villain in the Borg. Tom, Neelix and the Doctor just overall became more fun as characters.

Personally, although two of my top favorite episodes are from Season 4 ("Year of Hell" and "The Killing Game"), I overall like Seasons 5 and 6 even more. I find those two seasons the most lively, with lots of great guest stars and well-done aliens.

I'm glad you're enjoying the show, and hope you continue to enjoy it.
