Have you read the plot description of the Phase 2 episodes? Most of them didn't sound particularly good.SNW actually presents a good opportunity to dust off and retool any unused Phase 2 or TNG scripts.
IIRC, some of them got turned into early TNG episodes. And yeah, not too good, indeed.
To be fair, masculine aesthetics were not the same in the 1960s as they are today. Fit, yes. Muscle-bound no. Look at the other leading men of the day. None of them were hard-bodied. Shatner looked just fine.We must have watched different Kirks.
It does feel that the standards for "manliness" in general culture (and which reflects in our art like tv shows and movies), around the world, have gone up to extremely high, possibly unattainable for many, levels in recent years. To be fair, masculine aesthetics were not the same in the 1960s as they are today. Fit, yes. Muscle-bound no. Look at the other leading men of the day. None of them were hard-bodied. Shatner looked just fine.
I was mostly just memeing but you're right. To be fair, masculine aesthetics were not the same in the 1960s as they are today. Fit, yes. Muscle-bound no. Look at the other leading men of the day. None of them were hard-bodied. Shatner looked just fine.
I just finished a complete rewatch of DSC.
It's probably been mentioned, but I'm hoping for more Sarek and Amanda. They did those characters proud.
Harcourt Fenton Mudd is aMudd...must have. Even a repeat visit by Queen "Po" if it fits in somewhere, if for no other reason than she's adorable..
Of course a lot of this depends on the number of episodes and number of seasons we end up seeing, but the more "episodic" nature should allow for the appearance of these characters.
Post Cage to WNMHGB could give us Boyce or Piper as CMO.
In my estimation, Mudd should really not encounter the Enterprise (and especially Spock). He'd be a better fit over at the Section 31 show, maybe even as an asset, given his history with Tyler. They could probably do something with Baron Grimes and his organization, though.
Boyce may have retired and Piper might come along with Kirk, so the show could quite reasonably feature a brand new CMO.
Mudd encountering the Enterprise before might be ok as he's pretending to be someone else in his first TOS appearance, but he can't encounter Spock. Maybe they'll have to have Spock away on a mission every time Mudd shows up.In my estimation, Mudd should really not encounter the Enterprise (and especially Spock). Do NOT give them ideas.Spock can have his mind erased or memories tampered with. This would be their chance to erase any Burnham connection even more. Get ride of all that Burnham inside him so he is all set and ready to turn into Nimoy soon.
