If you don't like current Trek I would highly suggest finding something you do actually like.

There is a good chance of that assuming that Discovery is staying in the future and there will not be any more time shenanigans.

The only potential fly in the ointment is Georgiou, if she really is going to be in a S31 show alongside Tyler then she will need return to the same year/decade that she left.

Also, they already built the sets.

Also, Cage technology is based upon 60s era interpretation of technology. It is unreasonable to expect the same interpretation of technology in modern day.

This comment doesn't apply to me, but you're 100% correct.

Professionally produced Star Trek made on a consistent basis is never going to "go backwards" in terms of either tone or aesthetic in order to mirror or replicate past iterations of the franchise, and it's real silly for anyone to expect it to or to complain when it doesn't.

Except that this current iteration already has with the Klingons. The design regression was a huge slap in the face to artistic integrity and is precedent for what his current group is willing to do to appease certain elements of the fan base.

I teared up when he said "classic" and "optimism" and the future. I'm so so so tired of dark and brooding. PIC came through at the end for me, though the writing overall was disappointingif not bad. Once again, "Star Trek" you have me expecting something truly good. I'm gonna go watch this announce for the third time!

    Yeah, awesome news!

    Cool name too :)
    like the main cast

Hope sincerely it's not dark/gritty/edgy/shock value, but rather a different flavor colorful, optimistic, thought provoking and a maybe kinda like ENT S4 with a few stand alone episodes, but then multi arc episodes sprinkled in to flesh out the universe/stories.

Would they move Ash Tyler over to this show?

I don't think so, he is supposed to be a main character in the new S31 show.

Then again so is Georgiou but she is 900 years in the future, we should have a better idea of what is possible after Discovery S3 airs.

Fantastic news. Hopefully it lives up to its title, and they would be visiting strange new worlds.

there is obviously a segment of fan base that prefers a TOS/TNG style series, something episodic with colorful uniforms and very optimistic. These people think new Trek shows are too dark and they actually prefer The Orville. Here is their chance to capture this audience.

I hope so since they built the Enterprise set here. I assume the Enterprise set is at Pinewood Toronto, and the S31 show is supposed to film at the CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga.

Although if I remember correctly, part of the reason for the new studio in Mississauga was that the Toronto studio was full.

So for the Enterprse set, either they continue filming those at Pinewood, or they move the sets to CBSSC. Seems unlikely it would be feasible to move a complete set? I dunno how mobile they are.

Anyway i love the name of the show. It's more creative than anything I could have come up with.
