9/10. Stream of consciousness: Loved Culber’s story. 31 is growing on me. The reveal had me going for a bit there and for a bit I really did wonder if they might kill off Michael. Didn’t care too much for the Ash/Michael stuff. I like that Admiral Kat is continuing on on the show but I do wonder if her continued presence might not mean well for her before the end of the season. Honestly, I know a lot of people complain about Tilly. I have typically rolled my eyes at the complaints. This episode? She did get a little on my nerves. Really liked Spock and Michael’s exchange again. Liked all of Phillipa here. This may have been SMG’s best episode.

I really liked the episode overall and the twists it gave us. Some of the story (and some of this seasons' episodes) seem forced into a smaller box than it should be. Airiams' replacement, the Section 31 intrigue, and the whole setup for capturing the red angel is just moving so fast, I sometimes can't get as invested as I should be. Ah well, always better on a second watch for me. 9/10.
Gave the episode a 9. The beginning and the ending were absolutely superb.
I'm so glad that the Red Angel is who they are. I am almost embarrassed about how much I'm enjoying seeing characters who look like me smack dab in the center of Trek. You don't always see it in science fiction. I mean, in 53 years, across 2 versions, we've never seen
any of Uhura's family in canon, and certainly not her mother.
On the one hand, it doesn't matter, since there's DS9 (which was incredible!), but you know what? For a few of us in the audience, and among the fanbase, maybe it does matter. All I know is that I'm feeling so happy about this episode, even a little guilty tonight.
It's weird having nice things!
There was stuff that didn't work as well for me. I wish they'd dropped the Tyler and Burnham connection, or at least left it "will they - won't they" for now. I liked it OK in season 1, especially in "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad," but it worked less well for me here.
The Stamets/Georgiou/Culber/Tilly scene was magnificent. And I was touched by Cornwell and Culber, too. Did we know that she was a therapist? Implies that she rose through the ranks as ship's counselor. In my head, that's more of a 24th century thing, but I'm sure the old school Trekkers will correct me if I'm wrong.
I've been enjoying Peck's take on Spock so far, but there were a few moments in this episode where I felt he was less Spocklike, and more random Vulcanoid. Not at the end, though! His actions at the end made me say in my best Bones voice "that's Spock!"
It was nice to see Airiam's original actor rejoin the bridge crew. The little touches like that make me love Disco's cast.

Man, a lot to process in this episode.
Leland's story about the temporal suit and the "death' of Michael's parents doesn't make sense to me. Section 31 learns the Klingons are mucking with time travel. They make a time travel suit. The Klingons find and destroy the suit, but then Leland says they abandoned "it". What did they abandon, the suit (that he thought was destroyed) or their work into time travel? Then Section 31 finds a time crystal to power the suit, but the Klingons pursue the crystal to the system where the Burnhams are staying. Moma Burnham had a hand in developing the suit, was she there to pick up the crystal to power the suit (which was supposedly destroyed)? The star going supernova and releasing a large amount of energy is mentioned. Did that also have something to do with powering the suit? If so, what was all the hoopla about staying to see the supernova, if they had to stay anyway. Leland's wording also makes it seem like the time crystal might have been a lure to trap the Klingons in the supernova.
Also, thank god the mystery of the Red Angel turned out to be an actual mystery. I thought it was going to be Lorca and the Mirror Universe all over again.
8/10 Very good episode. Brought down a couple of points by the massive amount of exposition in the first half or so.
One thing I love is that revealing the RA to be Michael's mom was great. NO ONE guessed her, but it's a fantastic reveal! A true surprise yet not one out of the blue. Nice!
I did wonder about the wisdom of catching a RA Michael and using Michael in that plan!
Does her mom realize that her traveling through time allows the future virus through? Or, is Control secretly pushing that plan to get the RA threat removed?
Could have been a 9.. going back and forth on it. ill say 8.5.
If this doesn't shut up the "Burnham is wooden, no range, artificial" etc up nothing will. This was her best performance. Very good episode. Culber's story line is arguably just as compelling as everything else going on.

They never say the suit was destroyed by the Klingons, they say it vanished over 20 years ago. Obviously the reason it vanished is because mama Burnham put it on and escaped into the future.
The thing I don't get is why they thought Burnham's parents were dead. I mean, I know Michael was hiding in a closet and couldn't see. But wouldn't they be suspicious if no bodies were found? Or did they just presume the Klingon disruptors were on "vaporize?"
