Voyager had two holodecks.
It's funny, because I love these high paced special effects scenes but I also love a good conference room scene. Anytime Picard would just look at his team and firmly ask, "Suggestions?", man I LOVED that stuff. And like, I love Star Trek technobabble because I understand the technobabble for the most part, at least in the context of Star Trek and how they use it. I get that the solution was always 'if we simply do this then this will happen and then everything will be fine!' its not the technobabbly stuff they were doing that was great, it was the teamwork that was great.

Yeah, I think it will be relevant. Though I don’t get why only one starship is investigating. You’d think they’d at least send a second ship to monitor from afar.
It would be just unbelievably stupid to have the Enterprise, of all ships, roll fin out for no reason. I’ll give the writers more credit than that.

In my head-canon, I feel like after the Hirogen converted several sections into holodecks and were defeated, Janeway was like, 'eh, just leave em!'
Burnham was adopted by a family after losing her parents. She eventually became close with her adopted mother and wanted to emulate her style by getting a similar hairdo.
Clearly she was a racist piece of shit cultural appropriating devil-child. This is why she bonded so well with Space Hitler.
It feels like they ripped her stock character out of that show and placed her in space. That's my biggest issue with Tilly, I've seen this character before on other shows in the vein of Gilmore Girls, as you said. Not the best fit for a Trek series, and I don't buy her as being this super genius.
I'll even go as far to say that Sonequa's Burnham is more convincing as a brilliant scientist, despite the show telling us that she is the 'smartest person' evaaar.

We did? That's really stretching it. I've seen random redshirts of the day on other Trek shows get more to work with. I think the background bridge crew will remain the way they are. Not actual developed characters.

I really enjoyed Pike, but I get your perspective. Anson was a breath of fresh air, but he didn't really bring anything new that we haven't seen on Star Trek before. Just brought us back to the familiar of what makes an awesome Captain. This show needed it.
Burnham was far less of an annoyance when her focus is shared with Pike. It was a good balance.
Interesting point though...maybe both ships WILL co-investigate through the course of the season!
I guess I'm just seeing hair texture as being on par with other hair qualities, such as color or length. I suppose texture is more of an ethnic/race thing, but I was seeing it as just like any other hair characteristic -- although admittedly some hair characteristics (color and texture) are affected by ethnicity.
An Irish person whose hair is likely to be red, or at least more fair, might be asked to wear a wig or dye it to look more Vulcan.

Perhaps, but its never been stated as canon that all Vulcans are brunettes with dark hair and brown eyes. ENT had Vulcans with different hair colour and eye colour. A red head actor as a Vulcan would probably wear a red wig, a blond actor a blonde wig. There are supposed to be 6 billion Vulcans, I doubt they all look like Spock.
I still put the monolithic look of reboot Vulcans down to lazy production design.
Hunter's Pike had one single episode, we don't know enough about his character to say that.
DSC Season 2 is 3 years after 'The Cage'. He could have mellowed out over those years.
Well there is a Hologram of a D7 in 2 of the trailers. That might be the ship we see.
After the loose interpretation of the Kelvin movies, this Pike feels remarkably on point to me.
And she's identified the awkwardness (which manifests itself as her talking too much) as a problem that she is actively trying to fix.
It seemed to me that when Stamets told her to use fewer words, it wasn't the first time he gave her that advice, and she certainly seemed to understand that she should try harder to heed that advice.
