Maybe we'll get recycled USS Vengeance sets standing in for the Enterprise-F...

It was mentioned that the Picard Series was to be shot in California and not in Toronto where Discovery shoots. So him being at Paramount makes some sense. Also they are still at the planing stages and my just be using the offices there, not a studio.

Even if they were shooting it up in Canada, I wouldn't think he'd have to go there for wardrobe/make-up photo tests or other pre-production stuff.

But the point is the series is CBS, not Paramount. CBS has their own studios/backlot. Mind you, KCAL 9 used to have its news studio on the Paramount lot, and that channel is a sister station to KCBS (though that was over 25 years ago). Perhaps there is some agreement between the two for this series, e.g. the size of sound stage needed wasn't available at CBS.

Are there any TNG-era sets still kicking around?

Actually my new theory is this show is going to be meta. Patrick Stewart is going to play Patrick Stewart playing Captain Picard again in a fictional new Trek show. That photo is actually a filmed scene from the show. Patrick Stewart showing up to work to start playing Picard.

He's an actor, he could be doing more then one thing. The Picard Show doesn't start production until April after all.

Remember they used to use latex make up to make people look old in Star Trek ?
Now they just get a real old dude in to play the lead
Last time I saw Patrick on TV he looked like, uh, a hundred

He looks better than he looked with old-man makeup in All Good Things 25 years ago.

He looks pretty much the same as he did in Dune, to me. The guy moves with more grace than I do and I'm 34.

If they do that they’ll lose half their audience right out of the gate.

If you or anyone honestly expects this show to use 1980s/1990s production values, give up already.

In the same way Discovery has given the TOS era a lick of paint, this new Picard series will update the TNG era.

No idea what you mean by 'production values', but if they give us more Klingorcs the show will likely not be a success.

If they have any sense they won't want to emulate Discovery in any way.

    Why?

Klingons changed before and they changed again. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

This show will succeed or fail on story and characters not objections to make up.

Because like it or not, they've come to symbolise the 'screw Star Trek' attitude of Discovery. They're not going to succeed with another show that hates its own franchise.

Yeah, no, I don't buy that at all.

Not unless TMP, TWOK and TNG were all "screw Star Trek" attitudes as well. In which case, I agree. Otherwise...
