The old Trek series is leaving Netflix.

They are. But for the past decade or so, Netflix has been the European home of Star Trek streaming. And not everyone wants to subscribe to Paramount+, or in some cases, it’s simply disappointing—for the reasons I mentioned in an earlier post.

As a Dutch person, it is now impossible to find all shows on streaming. We don't have Paramount+, we have SkyShowTime. The so called home of Star Trek, but it only has Discovery, SNW and ENT as complete shows. Oh, and Prodigy. Two seasons of Picard and Lower Decks. The Kelvin-verse movies. Last week, all the classic movies from 1-10 were there. All gone now. No SFA. It's a shitshow. I'm glad I have TNG on Bluray and DS9, VOY and ENT on dvd. Luckily, Amazon still has all of Picard.

My universe has rebalanced itself.

I work at home and used to watch an hour of classic Star Trek a day on my lunch break, mainly ‘cause it was an easy 45 minutes and a reliable nostalgia hit.

Gotta admit… the loss destabilized my day a little, but just found out Stargate: SG1 will be coming to Netflix on the 15th Feb.

Haven’t seen that for 15 years. Problem solved though.

Fortunately, as an American, I get find most all things Star Trek on Paramoount+, which I subscribe to primarily for that reason. However, the one thing I miss from the pre-Paramount+ days was that Amazon used to stream TOS and offered the option of the original versions of the episodes without the new effects. That is the way I prefer to watch TOS and only the remastered episodes are on Paramoount+. You can buy them on Blu-ray, but there is no way to stream the original versions.
