I share her reaction to the new Enterprise design.
Shes moved to tears by how beautiful it is.
But the ugly additions are more visible. Before, I could pretend. It's harder to see in the new shot.
The boxy underbelly of the ship though - that just looks like an accident. Like someone made a CGI-model in a hurry, made a basic shape - but then never got around finishing it. Which is actually what according to Fuller happened: They said the original Comic Con trailer model was rushed to have something presentable - and the underside of the ship is basically not changed since that:
But the facial expression is not; and I doubt they CGI'd that. Her pose and position is also identical. Even the folds in the fabric on her uniform are the same.
It’s 1:1, you could overlay the two.
Well yeah, it's not the exact same frame, but it's the exact same scene. But the facial expression is not; and I doubt they CGI'd that.
Or it could be something as simple as while she is standing there conversing, the two ships show up in-scene to tow the Enterprise. The second shot can be easily explained, from later in the same episode. Enterprise makes her appearance early in the episode (broken down) then, later in the episode, two Starfleet tugs show up to tow her back to dry-dock for repairs... Simple.
That's a shame, the top shot was probably the best angle on the Discoprise.so there has been some updates to the VFX between the trailers and the promo spot after "the escape artist", as pointed out by trekcore...

the lighting is quite a bit different, now the enterprise is being towed by two (malachowski class?) ships.
also i'm concerned that our opinion of the VFX in season 2 was shaped by unfinished shots in the trailers and that the final episodes will be just as overdone and ugly as season 1.That's a shame, the top shot was probably the best angle on the Discoprise.

Lorca just had the doors made of transparent aluminum because he was a dick and liked the thud of space-birds flying into them trying to avoid being eaten by gormaganders. They opened them to use them, I don't recall them just generally being open all the time.
[Just for the record, I really don't care if Discovery has the bay open a lot or not.]![]()
I don't see what you mean? They just changed the colour of the lighting. I don't see how it looks any less 'natural'.This new shot looks like Batman-v.-Superman-everything-has-to-look-smeared again.
Huh? This lighting matches what we got on the bridge in the Season 1 finale. Also a shame: the Los-Angeles-smog-at-sunset lighting.
I don't agree.also i'm concerned that our opinion of the VFX in season 2 was shaped by unfinished shots in the trailers and that the final episodes will be just as overdone and ugly as season 1.
Agreed. Looks like someone just wanted to have moving VFX in the background of the shot versus a static ship so they just changed it. Could be the choice of the episodes director to better fit what they felt would make a more fluid scene. However that sepia filter change is annihilating my eyes....Her pose and position is also identical. Even the folds in the fabric on her uniform are the same.

Sepia? It's orange light.Agreed. Looks like someone just wanted to have moving VFX in the background of the shot versus a static ship so they just changed it. Or more likely, the first version was a quick temp to use for promotional purposes.Agreed.
