Sarek and Cornwell got duped. I think Ash is going to have to transform to Voq permanently to unify the Klingons and end the war.

Only Klingon pubes are strong enough to forge a sword from. Today is a good day to shave.

nice episode. Good scenes of Ash trying to deal with all the emotions. Tilly's kindness, and Michaels dilemma.

The twist at the end of Captain Georgious is kind of funny. How many of the crew will really believe it?

the spore device was so cool. One of the better special effects in all of trek, tv and movies.

He never said he wasn't either. Garth calls him the finest military commander other than himself.

maybe they will explain it. Perhaps piss off the kilngons?
u can tell both Saru and Michael were uncomfortable with it, as well as the crew who found the cover story fishy.

And also the one being the first Starfleet vessel to get knocked out by the Whale Probe in TVH. Yes, a very unlucky ship to be on. And, for the record, it's not much of a safe bet to serve on an Enterprise either.

A bit disappointed that the career of Captain Killy and the ISS Discovery ended so ignominiously. Blundering into Klingon space and immediately being shot down by ships avenging Kol. On the other hand, I suppose that confirms that Mirror Lorca was uncommonly crafty, as opposed to Mirror Kirk being uncommonly stupid. Still, I was hoping for a Disco versus Disco face-off.

Also, disappointed there was no mention of Vulcan being one of the planets attacked by the Klingons. Oh, well, another one bites the dust on the theory-board.

Given the show's love of duality and recontextualization (seen in this very episode with Ash going to the mess hall and being shunned just like Michael was, but Tilly having learned her lesson and being friendly with him), it seems like a foregone conclusion that Michael is going to have to kill the Emperor.

Uh, have you met Section 31?

    Gives off a Janeway vibe.

This episode drew an 8 out of me, as opposed to the dismal 1 last week's episode got. Takeaways:
    1. Cornwell is the new Admiral Ross (right down to working with unprincipled people to help win the war). Good. I like Ross. It helps associate Discovery in my mind with my favorite Trek series, something that was desperately needed after the :censored: I watched last week.
    2. Saru should totally be Captain next season. He is absolutely what a TV Trek captain should be. (I like hardasses like Lorca and Calhoun as captains--in novels, not the main show.)
    3. Ash Tyler is still cringe-worthy. I wish someone would put him out of his misery already. Don't pass go. Don't go to Sto-Vo-Kor. Hakai.
    4. Michael Burnham? To quote my favorite Discovery hardass: "I still don't give a damn."
    5. Evil "Captain" Georgiou? Not as good as having the real Georgiou back, but still .
    6. Nice nod to Enterprise.
    7. I'm just not buying Tilly being able to act so confident over in the MU. Either that was BS or her going back to losing confidence is BS.
    8. Stamets, my man, you have a lot more self restraint than I would have with Tyler. Yay, Federation values! I would have totally destroyed the motherfucker on the spot.
    9. They better not screw the next episode up.

Nah it means he really liked it. Might other "10" episodes he liked more. It's not Highlander rules, there can be more than one.

Was I the only one that half expected/hoped to see an old T'Pol walk through the door after Cornwell said they'd need a captain with experience of qo'nos right after she mentioned Captain Archer and the NX 01???

SM-G actually impressed me in those scenes. I haven't really been sold on her performance until now.

    Um...from TOS - "Court Martial"

    ^^^
see the highlighted lines (I left the rest for context). Also realize, what is there was indeed an abbreviated list. Where do you think he got all those? ;)

Also, unless there was a story reason why would Kirk or anyone mention a war with the Klingons that ended 9-12 years previous? Hell, they even stopped mentioning the Organian imposed Klingon peace treaty situation after the Second Season TOS - "The Trouble With Tribbles" and they did have a number of Klingon episodes after that one where fire was exchanged.

    ^^^
DS9 takes place nearly a full century after that incident. As time goes on stuff that was classified becomes de-classified. Hell, we now know much more publicly about certain incidents like the JFK assassination than the public did 10 years after circa 1973.

well, they seem to think T'Pol was a compelling character. Nuff said. :p
