Spoilers Discovery 1x14: "The War Without, The War WIthin" Preview

I like that in the establishing shot, they've not only painted the "U" back onto the ship, you can even see a couple little spacesuited figures hanging around. I hope there's a bit with them ripping out all the Terran garbage. Somebody can chuck the plaque at Tilly as a souvenir of her first command.

Gotta throw Airiam in there somewhere. Maybe as DJ?
Only if this crewperson is on the other board.

I can totally picture Saru and Tilly lighting up as well lol. But I digress, what is this episode about again?
War?

But Tilly definitely lights up. That’s probably why she acted odd when first meeting Burnham. She had just smoked and was sneaking back to her quarters.

Okay, this is the second or third time a ship has shown up and not been seen. The Admiral's ship has not appeared yet.

Also a random thought, what if the Emperor becomes the hero of the Federation by defeating the Klingons at say...Axanar? Her Federation counterpart is not only dead, but known to be dead from the first battle of the war. So how would you hide her identity but still be allowed to keep an eye on her and let her bask in the glory she just achieved? What about a sex change and new identity as someone named Garth? Who's madness might be the former personality creeping out?

Well done, this is the most convoluted Garth theory I've yet heard!

I don't think the ISS Discovery can jump, although she was presumably built to. Unless she has a tardigrade...

Stamets has discovered Spore Power in both universes. The MU version just abuses it in a different way. But supposedly, said version was one of Lorca's allies, and may have ranted about parallel universes to him.

Which leaves open two ways for Lorca to decide that he needs to be on USS Discovery. One, the Discovery is a mushroom ship in two universes; and two, she is not, but Lorca knows his best bet for getting home is by drafting Stamets and putting him on an innocent little (big!) science ship.

In the former case, there'd be potential for MU ship to wreak real havoc, and to remain at large after nine months. One just has to wonder why the exalted Captain Killy agrees to command a ship that is low on firepower and just jumps around a lot. And why the Emperor doesn't command her to jump anywhere, say, to the Rebel HQ...

In the latter case, she wouldn't be much of a threat, and really ought to be caught already. And we'd learn that the spinning saucer surfaces are not a spore thing at all, but just something installed on big science ships for bleeding off the waste energies from whatever harebrained experiments the mad scientists aboard are running.

I also await Admiral Cornwell briefly arresting Cadet Tilly next episode, with Tilly all confused for a moment. Too bad Tilly took off her mirror costume.

Speaking about costumes, did Burnham remember to return the ship's quantum signature to its regular version? (And did Lorca manage to alter his, or did he just stay out of the room whenever the good guys were making discoveries about quantum signatures?)

My thought is ISS discovery is doing a mess in the Primeverse, that's why SF boarded USS discovery
Yeah I think ISS Discovery has been causing trouble....but there's a fine line to tread here. Too much trouble and too many people learn about the MU when (barring some horrible time reset that nobody wants) the writers are going to have to have Starfleet effectively make knowledge of the MU classified and on a strictly need-to-know basis (maybe S31 but certainly not Kirk & co in the TOS until they end up there). So, given that ISS Discovery didn't have spore technology, I'm guessing Killy engaged in skirmishing and terrorist activities that never got wide coverage....til ISS Discovery was either destroyed or transported back to MU when USS Discovery came back.
