Spoilers Discovery 1x14: "The War Without, The War WIthin" Preview

They have to bring an ambassador along to screen the senior officers? There's no Vulcan Starfleet officers who could do that? Even if Spock can't be brought in because of reasons, what about the 400 Vulcans serving on the Intrepid? Or are we that determined to leave the Constitution class ships out of the war?
My guess is Sarek was the first/only Vulcan available at that time.

So if Sarek is mind-melding to make sure they're the USS Discovery and not the ISS Discovery, how will he react when he meets up with MU Georgiou?

I can't imagine her presence will go over well.

Stupid Burnham, being overcome with the feels again, instead of using logic. Sarek was smart to choose Spock over her.

Supposedly, theres only one Evil Starship loose in this universe. Assembling a single dream team to deal with her seems logical, then. Starfleet in general has probably much better things to do anyway.

Why leave Sarek ashore, in a timeline where the enemy is basically orbiting Vulcan? His personal involvement would seem to outweigh his potential future value as a diplomat, especially considering that Klingons already demonstrated they considered Vulcan diplomats in general and Sarek in particular mere hostages.

Timo Saloniemi

Because they align more with her ideology than the Federation.
She's from a society that believes in the dominance of humanity over all other races in the universe. Even if the Federation's values are repugnant to her, I don't see Captain Killy allying herself with aliens to fight other humans. Not to mention, I can't imagine her crew willing to follow a Captain who collaborated with aliens. Besides, Lorca spent a year in the Prime Universe and still dedicated himself to fighting and killing Klingons.

Exactly.

It would be kind of fun if some faction of the Klingons had quietly gone to peace talks just after Discovery switched with Evil Discovery, and then Captain Tilly had knocked the foundation out from under them by committing random atrocities against Klingon targets within her vicinity.

If Killy is out there, her allegiance just happens to be to someone Burnham maybe not so wisely brought into their universe.

It would make absolutely zero sense. Still, considering the quality of writing in this show, it might still happen...

If she was bloodthirsty enough, she probably didn't even notice the positions she were firing at weren't simply larger than usual Resistance bases.

But jokes aside, if the ISS Discovery survived, it's probably lying low now, trying to figure out a way back home, or perhaps picking at vulnerable Klingon targets whenever Killy's finger gets twitchy. If she's not picky, she might attack Federation ships as well if she figured she can harvest valuable intel from their computer cores, but she certainly would not support lowly aliens against them... that being said, I only hope they don't leave that plotline dangling. Cornwell's forces boarding the Discovery with weapons drawn suggests Killy did something really bad though (even if Starfleet doesn't necessarily know it was her... Cornwell's asking for Lorca in the scene from AT). Perhaps the ISS Discovery arrived at Starbase 46 in the USS Discovery's stead and Killy blew them up when they weren't fast enough to lick her boots?

I really like this youtuber's videos. I get a laugh out of his askew grandpa-filming of the tv screen. It's kind of adorable.

So you basically hate ALL the women on this show...

Well yeah.

We've had great female characters in Trek before, but the ones on STD are terrible.

Prime Georgiou is the only worthwhile one, but all that's left of her is in some Klingon sewer somewhere.

Imho Kira was far and away the best written female character in Trek history. She was given a real backstory and a lot of pain without being a sadsack. And she was neither written as a character who happened to be a woman, or to represent some aspect of femininity/sex appeal.
