The Least Disliked Episode 2025 -

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now with more shows than ever. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favourite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

The Wolf Inside

Choose Your Pain will be my first victim here. I really dont care for Mudd and season 1 of Discovery did some terrible things to the Klingons.

Probably the third worst season in the franchise. Hard to begin eliminating with so many bad episode options.

Taking out "Vaulting Ambition".

We didn't need the Mirror Universe in DISCO, despite it giving us Michelle Yeoh back.

Taking out "The Vulcan Hello" because it's so slow and boring for a pilot. Yeah, it's only half of the premiere, but much more happened in the first half of, say, "Caretaker" compared to it.

"The War Without, The War Within" is the dud of the season for me. Such a tortured episode. They're trying so hard to bring this unwieldy narrative in for a landing, and this is just the grinding gears of plot contrivances forcing everyone into where they need to be for the finale. Just awful. So forced and overwritten.

Taking out "Battle at the Binary Stars".

How the hell do you have the first two episodes not only have most of the cast of the series not appear, but the place where the title of said series (Discovery) does not even appear?

Add to the fact it's THE worst series premiere of all the shows, it dies on the 'battlefield'.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. I did not care for the radio tower planet and Sara going crazy. It wa just a weird plot that felt out of place.

Context is for Kings and not for this list. The first half of season 1 is much weaker than the second. Empress Georgiou saves the season from being a right off, and the early episodes everyone was so obnoxious and not in a fun way just unpleasant.

Killing "The Wolf Inside".

Same reason as I got rid of the other Mirror Universe episode for DISCO season 1.

The weirdest thing about Disco season 1 is how many glimmers of greatness are strewn about through it. Every episode has something great about it. Every episode also has something terrible about it. I struggle to think of a more erratic season of television.

It always makes me think of the TV show version of a hot mess drunk friend, who's so chaotic and difficult yet also fun and vibrant. They have so much going for them, but also they have so much going wrong. Every hangout will be a blast but also infuriating and frustrating.

The L'Rell/Cornwall stuff in "Into The Forest I Go" is a trainwreck. Nothing about it holds together, at all.

Butcher's Knife. Similar reasons as the others in the first half which is basically unwatchable for me. Though Strange New Worlds has done a good job of redeeming the Klingon War story by better showing the emotional fallout.

The best of times, the worst of times.

"Despite Yourself" does have some incredible highpoints. Burnham's speech to Tilly right before she's going to impersonate Killy is exceptional, possibly one of my favorite bits from the entire series of Discovery. And then her actual playacting as Killy, that whole sequence is perfect.

It also has Culber's death, one of the stupidest and most ill-advised plot turns I've ever seen on anything ever. I still can't believe the incompetence of those writers in thinking they were NOT doing a "kill your gays" story, because they were going to have the ghost save the universe after. So. Fucking. Clueless.
