I don't think people are realizing the true ramifications of this episode. I believe people may be thinking way too small. Forget just visiting the mirror universe, Discovery can travel to pretty much ANY timeline or any parallel universe now. The Kelvin-verse, the mirrorverse, the past, the future.

It's possible this was never the Prime Universe as we knew it to be, but one version of it.

It's TUC that's the outlier here with the Peptol blood. The rest of Trek has shown crimson blood.

Obviously Klingon blood is mostly alcohol and the colour of it is dependent on what was last consumed. The Klingons in TUC were all drinking Romulan Ale which turned their blood pink. In everything else they drank blood wine (named, not because it is the colour of their blood, but because it colours their blood) hence red.

Why does blue Romulan Ale turn Klingon blood pink? Fuck you, that's why.

;)

I think that is probably a factor, as well as what I said a little upthread: Lorca is an anti-Picard.
For those who view Picard as the exemplar of what a Star Trek Captain is supposed to be like, Lorca must be very jarring.
Picard has a refined English accent, Lorca a Southern drawl. And for those who sided with Jean Luc in the Picard/Kirk debates, Lorca is even more of a maverick and morally grey than Kirk ever was.
Add to all of that his tendency to be abrasively blunt when he's under pressure, and that just gets some folks inclined to hate him.

Picard is my favorite Captain. Lorca is my second favorite. Kirk is 12th.

Of course he's a villain. A mass murderer. He killed the entire crew of the USS Buran. Period. There is no forgiveness or redemption for him.

I agree 100 percent. He is basically a new Gul Dukat.

I don't think things are quite that black-and-white. I think the destruction of the Buran was more complex than Lorca put it, and I assume it's a "The Mist" situation (or at least, appears to be), especially since Starfleet knows all about the Buran but still saw fit to give Lorca command of one of its top-line vessels.

Isaacs himself said that every villain views themselves as heroes, and that obviously applied to Gul Dukat as "Waltz" shows us. I think they could still go either way with Lorca, if so needed. He can become a mustache-twirling villain by season's end, so built up in his scheming that he's willing to kill millions to preserve the Federation, or they can redeem him in a blaze of glory battling the ultimate bad guy or even saving the Klingons or something.

Kol? I thought they were related at first too, but the later episode implies they weren't.

Shit, that was Kol?

My bad.

Kol "You speak of unity, yet you disgrace this ship with outcasts and vermin"

+

T'Kuvma "My house is open to all, even those discarded by you Kol."

How the hell are they not father and son?

I can see one argument for having the sensors' onboard computers "speaking": for the visually-impaired/blind audience members.

especially since Starfleet knows all about the Buran
We do not know this. Lorca confessed that he had killed the entire crew - to the Harry Mudd and Ash Tyler only.

Admiral Katrina spoke with him about the loss of the Buran. But they never went into details.

Of course, things can be even worse. The Admiral knows all the details. But she looked the other way because of love.

In a fictional universe where we have katra transference both by neurochemical and technological means, as well as the technologies of Camus II...there's options that may yet leave us with Tyler-as-himself after this arc's over.

Meh, as long as he gets his second penis back, he (and Michael) will be happy.
