We know from TAS and Voyager that there were holograms before 2364. I believe the difference was in the graphics and in the improved performance of the NPCs. Sorta like the evolution of video games, how we started with something very simple like Pong and advanced to the VR games of today. As the games continue to evolve, they will become even more "real".

After seeing next week's preview, I have to think we are seeing something of the mirror universe. The mirror universe does not have to be all ultraviolent - it can be the opposite of what we expect.

I was under the impression that Spock was the first Vulcan in Starfleet, but Lorca is seen talking to a Vulcan higher up during the episode.
Not a terribly huge continuity break but just something I noticed and was slightly irked by.

I think there's a big difference between 3 dimensional holograms you can see and 3 dimensional holograms you can **** as Quark's illustrates seems to be the primary use of them whenever you're in private.

Because we ALL thought it would be.

Star Trek is no stranger to retcons and it's very obvious T'Pol is the first Vulcan in Starfleet.

However, it gets some play here actually as it's clear Starfleet is considered a "step down" for most Vulcans.

It seems ENT racism by the elves died hard and slow.
