USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

"I want REAL STAR TREK. Where's the exploration, the philosophical morality plays? This just looks like a dumb war action show with the Klingons! Stupid CBS should have done Axanar instead!"

I hate when they bring up those greedy and foolish folks at Axanar

I don't agree with them that it looks "like a bad fan film," but having an opinion isn't dishonesty. Unless they're lying about their opinions, of course.

No, they are lying even if its just to themselves. No one can watch that trailer or look at the props and honestly say it does not look big budget movie quality

This series occurs around the time of the Talos IV Incident. You only get one chance to screw something like this up, and I guarantee they'll do it.

Now I want a cameo by the NX-01 Enterprise!

"Look! The legendary Enterprise! The ship that inspired generations of scientists, explorers, artists, engineers and broke a thousand records! Still looking good for her 100 years... Oh, also, they gave a newer ship the same name..."

......and Star Trek fan undies are soiled through out the galaxy......

Perhaps at the end of the season, the camera will pull back from Michael's eye revealing she's in a transparent cell and watched by The Keeper, who nods to another Talosian and thinks aloud, "This specimen shows much more promise!"

The show takes place after "The Cage," but that show was made over half a century ago and isn't relevant to this one.

He said that it was something referred to but never seen.

ST: D starts 2 to 3 years AFTER the 1701's visit to Talos IV. (From the TOS first season episode "The Menagerie (Part I)":

MENDEZ: Present your evidence. Screen on.

SPOCK: This is thirteen years ago. The Enterprise and its commander, Captain Christopher Pike.
So again, depending on the time frame you place the court martial of Mr. Spock in that episode with ST: D happening 10 years prior to the adventures of Kirk/Spock ST: D begins 2 to 3 years after the 1701's Talos IV incident.

Pretty sure at the least it's around 1 year apart from Talos ala (2254 v. 2255), if not as Noname said 2 to 3 years difference in time frame. Second what does that have to do with anything in terms of Discovery minus an event that we all know is classified anyways? I'm curious about what you were trying to address in your statement friend.

I don't know about the Enterprise but I have a gut feeling that Quinto might be donning his Vulcan ears at some point during Discovery's run given.
I don't know about Quinto, but seeing a young Burnham with Sarek, I have a strange feeling we will see a younger Spock as well. Even in a quick moment, I just have a feeling.

It happened, and in techincolor no less.

In a flashback, very possible.

Then what prevent them to use the new ST movie model for the Enterprise?

From the last 3 movies? I can't see that happening because that particular style of ship was unique to that timeline.

A crisper version of what we saw in Trials & Tribbleations and In A Mirror Darkly would be the way to go.

I would be happy not to see any Enterprise ships. It's time to introduce new ships and new species. However, I am excited the writers are exploring a new race of Klingons.

That's complicated indeed. So they can't use the Paramount's USS Enterprise?
If the producers are serious in their intent to have their show set in the "prime" universe, then no. They've made an effort to explicitly state their series is NOT in the Abrams-verse. However, given the changes in appearance of the series when compared to Cage/TOS, if they wanted to save time/money by modifying the Abrams model, I can't imagine why they couldn't.
