USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Someone, somewhere, could design one even more beautiful than the refit.
Whilst this is in theory possible, I find it exceedingly unlikely. That ship is pretty much perfect.

In any case, if we see Enterprise, I really wish they resist the temptation to alter it too much. Sure, adding detail is fine, but there is really no need to change the shape or proportions like they did in the reboot films. TOS Connie with TMP level hull detail is absolutely fine.

The Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman suits are all iconic. They've all been redesigned. A properly redesigned Enterprise could be beautiful. Someone, somewhere, could design one even more beautiful than the refit. Of course, they could also make the Enterprise look awful. Hopefully not.
Well I personally consider Discovery to be a reboot, so it doesn't really matter if Enterprise is different. It just wont be that Enterprise for me. I would be happy if it looks good.

To some, perhaps. I grew up with the original (starting in 1973), so it remains my sentimental favourite. But of all its successors, I find the Abrams-verse one my favourite, followed by the TMP re-fit.

It's a melty abomination.

The Abramsprise is a little strange to me. In orthographic angles, I agree, she can look a little odd, especially from the top with the nacelles being close together. But in the films, when she is just being shot from various angles, she has a really lovely, clean design.

I certainly like that more then the Koerner-prise that gets shown around here all the time as a redesign done right. Granted, she has her strengths too, and the proportions are nice, but its really busy for the sake of being busy.

They just need to have it a tiny ship in the background, just before warping away ("Hey look, there's the Enterprise!"). Kinda like tiny Superman in Supergirl season 1.

Given that Burnham has a relationship to Spock and Sarek, I imagine we'll at minimum hear about Spock and the Enterprise, even if it's just in passing. But I kinda doubt we'll see the 1701. Probably some other Connies though.

That would make sense as a stunt to draw in more viewers. Let them stand on their own for a season and then start bringing in more familiar elements.
I agree. I would like to see one if it fits the story (rendezvous with one, etc.) The only thing I'm not looking forward to is reading the fans' blown gaskets if the look changes a lot ("It didn't look like that in The Cage!!!!", stuff like that)

I'd be surprised if the Enterprise makes anything other than a background cameo appearance. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it thing.

Yeah, it could be like in Star Trek Online. There's a mission early in the game where you have to come to the Enterprise's aid in a battle. It's kind of off in the distance, you talk to Spock for a minute, and then it's gone. Something like that could work in DSC.

I'm not worried about what DSC would make the Constitution class look like, I'm just more excited about seeing the makeup of the rest of the fleet. The Connie was the only Starfleet class we ever saw in TOS - now's the time to spice things up a bit.

So you save the Enterprise and then they just leave, not even a bottle of Saurian Brandy to thank you?

Ingrates...

While I imagine the Enterprise will look different to how she did in the 1960's, I'd guess she'll look a little more faithful to the original than the Klingon ships:
