I'm liking how close the show has stuck to the major beats of the comics these last few seasons--there is definitely a lot more Negan coming up and I'm only reading the third part of that story arc right now.
But, it was I feel an interesting look at Daryl and how he's recovering from the encounter in the clearing as well as getting to "know" Dwight more. But i was talking to my parents and brother afterwards and we were like, "Yeah, I'd say "I am Negan"
That was an interesting episode, but I’m already starting to have problems with Negan. JDM is great but given in our first view of him he came across as a malevolent, almost supernatural character, so seeing him here...he does come across like just another warlord .
Considering how oppressive Negan is, expect the intensity to return--probably a number of times--whenever one of the Alexandria crew tries to stand up.
My take is that Negan wants Daryl to be Dwight's replacement--that was my thinking. I can easily see a dead Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with Simon picking up the bat--ad taking his place--though it would be a horror if Daryl took that role as the final villain.
"I am Negan"
It's still hard to not slightly love JDM's Negan just a little bit. Vulgar, crass and pulling the show dark but somehow also fun.
They went to the Hill colony to see the doctor, remember?I'm assuming Maggie is away somewhere with the missing Sasha.
Does Rick really know Judith isn't his? I mean, he and Shane both had sex with Lori within a day of one another so it's "possible" Judith is his, unless there's some physical trait Judith has that belongs to Shane and not him.
Only to Rick talk about him, Lori and Shane at the end, which was sort of touching to see him give this to Michonne.
Fuck you Spencer.
Daryl is broken.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is chewing up scenery like James Spader, but there's no reason why Negan should still be alive with all the hell he's given to everyone. One of his own men should've put him down by now.
No one can be sure how Father Gabriel will deal with any situation, period.Father Gabriel scaring Negan was priceless. No one can be sure how Father Gabriel will deal with the situation, since his "faith" line could be read in several ways.
I thought at the end, something pulled Michonne away and she'd find out about The Kingdom, was surprised to see the burning mattresses and what a "nice" "F-you" to Alexandria from The Kingdom.
God damn.. what an intense episode. Jeffrey Dean Morgan just kills it in his role (though he seemed to have become real skinny as he aged, i remember him from 10 years ago where he was much broader and would have fit the role even better).
Negan appears to be able to read people well. He knows Rick and his community hasn't been "tamed" yet, so he's being a bigger dick to them until they learn their place and become as subservient as the other communities. He didn't have to take away the guns from the Kingdom or Hilltop because the chances of them fighting back (on their own) are next to nil. Also what happens if they find guns during the course of any scouting trips? It's always likely they'll come across some weapons and/or ammo- in that instance do they not take them, do they take them and hide them, do they take them and hide some of them, turning the rest over to Negan, or do they just turn every single one over to Negan?
I'm guessing they had far less trouble in getting the Kingdom on board, which is why I'm guessing they get to keep their guns. And didn't the Hilltop have guns, just no ammo? (I may be remembering that wrong)
