Spoilers The Last of Us Season 2 - Spoilers

Not really. TO much falling in love and joking around. Surprise they didn't make a campfire and roast some s'mores. She barely killed anyone in her effort to get to Abby. She has like one scene in the hospital were she is beating on that girl that really feels like she is in revenge mode. Not so much the rest of the time. Little bit in the final episode but she still seems soft. I understand feeling bad about the baby but both of those people helped kill Joel. They have as much blood on their hands as Abby so I am not sure why she is focused only on Abby to begin with. Everyone in that room that day you think would be a target.

Seems pretty clear that Memorial Day had a big impact and the numbers will catch up. Even the Variety article admits overall numbers are better for season 2 than season 1.

Overall I thought the finale was good, though I had a lot of issues as to how/why certain things happened.

I'm all for suspending my disbelief but both Ellie and the boat surviving after the wave capsized the boat seemed a stretch. (looked amazing though)

This was compounded by Ellie then being captured and almost killed by the Scars, until the sounds of an attack caused them to let her go. WTF? It would have taken 10 seconds to finish Ellie off rather than leaving a probable enemy, and her gun, behind you as you rush to save your village.

Was it explained how Jesse and Tommy got to the aquarium? Were they able to go overland, but then why did Ellie need a boat?

Call me a terrible person but just once I'd like not to see the pregnancy/no drinking trope used as shorthand so a character figures out a woman is pregnant, and just once have someone act like a lot of people would in that situation. Yes drinking during pregnancy can harm a baby, but also we're in a post apocalyptic nightmare, she's in agony and Jesse's about to push an arrow through her leg! I suspect in that scenario a lot of women would just be like "give me the whisky, sobriety starts tomorrow!"

I'm assuming it'll be explained next season how Abby tracked them down to the theatre so I'm happy to let that slide.

Overall the season has been good, I'll be honest, I nearly checked out after Joel died but I'm glad I didn't. I don't love the show as much as I did however. I get that it isn't TWD (although even back in S1 I felt it wasn't as distinct and as wildly different to TWD as a lot of people seemed to think it was) in that it isn't an ensemble and that we're really just following Joel, Ellie and Abby, but the downside is that too much stuff seems to happen off camera sometimes, and much as I do really like Bella Ramsey, Ellie can be hard to like sometimes, especially when you spend so much time with her.

I get that it is following the game here but it's just not the show I clicked with in season 1, and for me the USP was always the chemistry between Pedro and Bella, and frankly even if they'd killed Ellie and we were now following Joel I'd probably still feel the same.

The miraculous navigation and finding each other was too much for me too, that stretched credibility and the scene with the Seraphs was just why? We know nothing will happen to Ellie since the show needs to go on, nothing of significance happened to her ( she already knew how bad the Seraphs can get with their prisoners) so what was the point?

It just seems writers sometimes do get lazy and just teleport their characters around to wind up in the most random but perfectly targeted ways to do something necessary to the story, GoT was very guilty of it in the last seasons, recently this happened a couple of times with the new Daredevil season and now with Last of Us.

I just wish the writers would put in a little effort to explain how characters can so easily find all the needles in a huge haystack.

Other than these i enjoyed the episode very much.

That's not how my head canon would go. My head canon would have them spending this season dealing with the refugee issue, talked about in the first episode and the rise of the spores and also knowing that Abby is out their wanting revenge. Ellie falling in love as well with Dina and that causing some conflict with a more conservative Joel. Who isn't as hateful about such things like Seth but he is also like you would expect many people would be since this world sort of stopped in 2003. Abby eventually kills Joel just as he learns to finally accept Ellie for who she is. Third season she goes on a mission of revenge with Dina and Joel's brother. Harder to do because now the world has spores out their making travelling across country even harder than before. At least 10 episodes per season for the next two seasons.
Makes me kind of glad that you're not on the writing team, then. I think the show is doing just great.

So far as Abby discovering Ellie and co were hiding out at the theater, there was an explanation in the game from Abby's POV.

3rd season might explain it, obviously here it wasn't done yet for shock value.

I am really not looking forward to the 3rd season bitching that will come when people realize it'll be mostly about Abby, i've already had enough of it and especially from reviewers. People just can't let Joel/Pedro Pascal go it seems.

Sometimes i wish there were no movie stars or fandom about some actors/actresses and people would focus more on story instead of "It's xyz's new show/movie"

Do we think Jayson wrote that season of The Walking Dead where they just spent all year on the farm?
Here is how I would have broken down the season. A 8 episode season.

1 Ellie while on patrol with Joel gets hurt. Broken leg or something like that. They have to fight a few zombies to get back to Jackson . They run into Abby and her people. as well. Abby tries to kill Joel but fails. They make it back.

2 Ellie and Joel get into conflict over why that Abby girl tried to kill him. While Ellie is also recovering from her broken leg. Ellie is friends with Dina and we can tel they have a sexual attraction to each other but she is still with her boyfriend Jesse.

3 Elie's leg is healed. She Jesse,Dina under the leadership of Tommy head to nearby small town they are hoping they can make liverable for all the new refugees coming since they are running out space. Ellie and Dina kiss for the first time. They are more than just sexually attracted to each other. Tommy is surprised. He is okay with people who are gay but he like Joel still comes from a conservative background so it still feels weird to him but tells Ellie she will need to tell Joel. He is her dad. PLus despite whatever issues they have from it he will still love her. Meanwhile the town is a wash because for the first time we see the spores. the entire town is infected with spores and zombies. Thus we are now introduced to a new threat.

4 Flashback episode focused on Abby. FIlls in why she wanted to kill Joel so much. We don't really see our regulars until the final scene were Ellie tells Joel about her feelings for Dina

5 Town makes steps on how to protect itself from spores should they get close to Jackson. Meanwhile Joel is sort of supporting of Ellie but you can tell his conservative background still makes him not as supportive as a more modern dad would likely be. Seth meanwhile is very much bigoted. Ellie and Dina meanwhile have what amounts to their first date, while spending the night in a guard tower. DIna tells Ellie that she has left Jesse. The thing explodes when Seth goes on a very public bigoted rant over the two girls dating. Joel doesn't support it but he also doesn't really speak out against it either. Elie is heartbroken and leaves their home to go live elsewhere.

6 Big action story as spore zombies attack the city. Jesse and Maria die. But zombies are repelled. Joel at the end goes to the thearpist for help. He know he has fucked up in dealing with Ellie coming out. She agrees to help. This version of her is more happy because her and her husband are together. He and Joel even work together on many town projects.

7 The refugee problem explodes. Many new people in town end up getting into a riot with the towns security force. We see one of the "refugees" is Abby as a twist ending. Meanwhile Joel does reach out to Ellie to heal their conflict. She and Dina have moved in together. Even though they are young many people died during the zombie attack so they become official members of the towns security force despite their age and inexperience.

8 Joel and Ellie it seems have really begin to make steps of healing their relationship. Joel apologizes for not being more supportive. The town has a big Christmas party because it's Christmas. Towards the end of the episode Abby finally confronts Joel and kills him in front of Ellie. Then escapes. That is how the season ends.
